Show Halogeton Field Day Proves Success In Lund-Beryl Area Thirty-five men and boys spent Monday in the West end of Iron county for "Halogeton Field Day" to grub the deadly weed from areas that could not be reached by spraying equipment. The men and boys were divided di-vided into three groups, two working in the vicinity of Lund and the third near Beryl. Spray-ing Spray-ing equipment had been used to combat the weed, but it had been found that in certain sandy sections of the desert land, could not be covered in this manner, necessitating a program of grubbing if the weed is to be controlled. A similar grubbing program was undertaken in the same areas last year, and reports from those who participated in the event this year indicate that this method of control had been unusually un-usually successfuL The men who participated enjoyed en-joyed an unexpected treat during the day when the 7-Up Bottling company of Cedar City treated them to ice cold drinks as they worked in the heat and sand of the desert |
