Show Completion of Culinary Water. City Street Oiling Projects Set for Sept. City Engineer Lloyd Grames reports that the city culinary water system development project, pro-ject, through which an underground under-ground water supply will be added ad-ded to the system, should be completed by Sept. 15. This coupled coup-led with a -report from City Manager Man-ager Thomas A. Thorsen, that the city-wide street oiling project pro-ject should be completed in about three weeks, would indicate indi-cate that the city will soon have completed two of the most important im-portant projects undertaken by the city administration in many years. ' Rapid progress is being made on the laying of the pipe from the well drilled near the Webster Web-ster farm in the Enoch basin to connect with the city system at the north city limits, according to Mr. Grames. The motor and pump for the well has been or dered and should arrive soon, and indications are that the pump will be installed, the pipe line, laid, tested and covered, by about Sept. 15, so that water from the well could be put into the system any time it is needed after that date. Mixing of the oil and gravel for the street oiling program has been progressing at a rapid pace throughout the week, and crews have been at work spreading the surfacing on some of the streets. Mr. Thorsen reports that the mixing is practically completed, but that it will take about three weeks to complete the spreading job. However, this should be completed by the end of August providing stormy weather does not delay the work. Another obstacle was encountered encoun-tered during the week, when bids were called for the seal: coating of all the oiled streets It is assumed that the reason major companies did not bid on the project was because the contract con-tract would amount to only a few thousand dollars and would not justify moving machinery from other jobs to Cedar City, |
