Show Arch Sherrill Dies In Salt Lake; Services Held Here Funeral services for Arch Steven Ste-ven Shlrrell, 82, a long time resident res-ident of Cedar City, was held at the Cedar Third Ward chapel Monday afternoon with bishop's counselor LaVand Bauer, presiding.' presid-ing.' Mr. Sherrill, who moved to Cedar Ce-dar City in 1925, lived here until un-til 1954, when he moved to Sa.lt Lake City. He died in Salt Lake City Thursday evening at 6:30 after a severe hemmorhage, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Larsen. Prelude and postlude music at the funeral services was by Miss Ferrol Dene Whatcott, and the invocation was by R. L. Durrant. Speakers Included Dr. J. S. Prestwich and I. E. Riddle with remarks by Mr. Bauer. A quartet composed of Zelma Lunt, Lois' McConnell, Ray Coss-lett Coss-lett and Vernon Jones, sang two numbers; "Shall We Meet Beyond the River," and "I Know My Hea-venly Hea-venly Father Knows." A vocal solo was also rendered by Mrs. McConnel, "A Perfect Day." All musical numbers were accompanied accom-panied by Beth Leigh. Benediction was by Jay Over-son Over-son and the dedicatory prayer at the Cedar City cemetery where the body was interred was by Samuel F. Leigh. Mr. Sherrill was born in Greens-borough, Greens-borough, Ky., on Feb. 23, 1873. He married Bertha Madora Batt, now deceased, in 1907 at Poca-hontus, Poca-hontus, Iowa. They moved to Cedar Ce-dar City in 1925 where Mr. Shlrrell Shlr-rell spent the remainder of his life with the exception of the past year. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Larsen, formerly of Cedar City, now residing in Salt Lake City; a grandson, ShirreU Larsen, Lar-sen, Sa.lt Lake City; a sister, Mrs. M. B. Doughty, Santa Monica, Calif., and a brother, Richard, of Niles, Mich. |
