Show Region Six High School Events Planned Region Six high school activities activ-ities administration officers were named last week and dates set for the various region contests to be held during the spring months. Three major activities will be held In Cedar City this year with two in St. George and one in Kanab. "Band Festival Day", at which bands, orchestras and choruses of the schools from the region, Including Kanab, Valley, Dixie, Hurricane, Enterprise, Cedar, Parowan, Par-owan, Beaver, Milford, Millard and Delta high schools, will compete, com-pete, will be held here on Saturday, Sat-urday, May 5. Region Track Meet Two days earlier, Thursday, May 3, the region track and field meet will be held here. On April 21 commercial contests will be held In connection with the College Col-lege of Southern Utah Vocational Vocation-al Day. The speech and drama con tests will be held at St. George on March 23 and 21, and the annual invitational track and field meet, which opens up the spring sport season, will be held in the Dixie City on April 14. Vocal and Instrumental solo and ensemble contests will be held at Kanab on March 7. Milton E. Moody, Washington county superintendent of schools, was named chairman of the activity ac-tivity group, succeeding John Ber-goyne Ber-goyne of Kanab. David Pearce, superintendent of Beaver county schools, was named chairman of the region board of managers, succeeding P. M. Bcthcrs, Cedar City.' Board Members Other members' of the board and their specific assignments are: Lamont Bennett, principal, MiUard high school, athletics; Max Dalley, principal, Parowan , high school, music; Gardner Snow, principal, Enterprise high ; school, speech. The board member to be responsible for commercial activities will come from the Kane county school district, but has not yet been appointed. |
