Show Rams Fall Prey To Charge Of Cedar Redmen The Cedar City Redmen scored five touchdowns, two in the first quarter, and one in each of the remaning three, to roll up a 33 to 0 score over the Parowan Rams Friday Jn their second consecutive consecu-tive league conquest. v Although the Redmen dominated dominat-ed the offensive action with the five tallies the game was one of fumbJes and some breaks because be-cause of fumbles. Parowan lost possession of the ball on four occasions on fumbles, all deep in Parowan territory, while the Redmen lost three fumbles and had one pass intercepted. All fumbles occurred in Parowan Paro-wan territory. The Rams stopped two drives set up by fumbles of their own, by recovering fumbles of the Redmen. First Tallf First score of the game came after four plays from scrimmage. The Redmen kicked off to Parowan Paro-wan and on the first play from scrimmage Parowan fumbled and Cedar took over on the Ram's 24 yard line. In two plays Coach Glen Jackson's Redmen had racked up the first down of the game and were going for first and goal from the nine. Reed Heywood, calling the signals, passed to Kenneth Grlener and he raced around left end for a standing-up TD. Heywood's spot pass across the line failed In the try for extra point. After forcing the Rams to punt after a nice runback of the kick-off kick-off by Scott Haycock of the Rams, the Redmen took over near the mldfleld stripe. After two runs, Griener fumbd and Parowan took over on their own 47. Again forced to punt the Redmen were put back into a hole on their own 10 yard line. More Forward In two plays Dan Sheffer and Griener had moved the ball to the 22 and here a nice pass to Sheldon Heffner at end and a quick lateral to Sheffer was good for the distance but a clipping penalty nullified the score and the Redmen were set back to the 21, 15 yards back from the point of the rule infraction. On the very next play Griener Grien-er slid off Jeft tackle, hit for the sidelines and outran the Parowan Paro-wan secondary for 79 yards and the second TD for the Redmen. A short pass to Gordon Slack from quarterback A. D. Findlay connected and the Cedar held a 13 to 0 lead. After receiving the kick the first real action offensively for Parowan netted the Rams their first, first down. John Simkins. signal caller for the Rams, completed com-pleted a pass to Jim Talbot at end for nine yards and Simkins Sim-kins carried on a QB snoak for 13 yards to the Ram's 45. Warren War-ren Ripbv at guard for the Red-mpn, Red-mpn, slipped in to throw the Rams for a loss on the next pJay to stop the drive. A bad pass from renter lost the ball for Parowan Par-owan and Spencer Bryant landed on the loose pleskin to give the TVdmen possession on Taiwan's 30 as the quarter ended. Quick Exchange Findlay threw a pass to Slack on the 20 yard line and a fumble when he was tackled gave the ball back to Parowan at that point. The Rams were forced to punt and Cedar took possession on the Parowan 47 to set up the third score of the game for tin.-Redmen. tin.-Redmen. Dayne Gardner carried for seven sev-en yards to the Rams 40. On the next play, Heywood pitched out to Sheffer who skirted right end and then cut down field and raced 40 yards for the TD. Heywood Hey-wood passed to Gardner for the extra point and the Redmen led 20 to 0. I LaVar Short, defensive end, broke through the Parowan defense de-fense and forced the ball carrier to fumble midway In the second quarter and Cedar recovered on the Rams 22. On the next play, however, the Redmen attempted a pass and Simkins Intercepted for Parowan on their own 10 yara line, i'arowan, qulcklng out, gave the Redmen possession of the ball again on the Ram 30 and after two plays Leon Blake fumbled and Parowan recovered on the 14. Parowan again punted and Cedar took over on the 35. Talbot of the Rams broke through to throw Findlay for a Joss back to the 45 as the half ended. Second Half Action was" slow at the opening of the second half. With most of the play in Parowan territory, Cedar was forced to punt twice and Parowan once, before a fumble fum-ble gave Cedar another br;ak and possession on the Ram 33. Findlay picked up 10 yards to the 23. Heywood came in to complete com-plete a pass to Slack to the 10 and Griener plunged over right tackle for the score. Michael Frame attempted to kick for the extra point, but It was low, giv- ing Cedar a 26 to 0 lead. Late in the quarter Parowan I missed a sure touchdown when Simkins put a pass right in the hands of Donajd Stubbs, but he dropped it far behind the closest defender for Cedar. The fourth quarter opened up with Parowan holding the ball on their only 19 following a Cedar Ce-dar punt. Simkins hit Dean Robinson, an pnd. wtth a hnautiful Dass that put Parowan the deepest into O-dar O-dar territory that they had been in the game. Robinson was stopped stop-ped on the Redmen 26. The Cedar forward wall soon put a stop to the drive, however. Led by Frame and Gale Simkins the Redmen broke in to throw Parowan for three consecutive losses, after Parowan had moved to the 10 yard line with another pass from Simkins to Doug Mick-elson. Mick-elson. The three losses forced the Rams back to the 43 where Cedar Ce-dar took over on downs.
