Show (By Doris Brown) SOPH SOX SPREE Friday, March 14 high school students stu-dents will celebrate to the theme, "All the Cats Join In" at the Soph Sox Spree which will be held at 8 p. m. in the High school gym. The object of the dance is to see who has the loudest stockings and who can dance the longest and hardest. Students will check their shoes at the door and dance In their stocking stock-ing feet until their corns become so sore that they can dance no more or until their stockings wear out. Prizes will be given at the dance for the loudest stockings, the largest larg-est feet, the smallest feet, the best sweater girl and the sweater boy. James Watson is general chairman chair-man of the big Sophomore event. Chairman of the sub-committees are: Janet Draper, prizes; Dolores Urle, floor show; Jerry Sherratt, assembly; and Ken Mlddleton and Richard Southwlck, advertlstng.'The entire sophomore class is helping with arrangements. TWO OUTSTANDING HIGH SCHOOL DEBATORS CHOSEN Lois Tucker and Doris Brown were selected by Twain Tlppetts as the two outstanding debaters at the Cedar City high school. These two girls will receive the coveted Durham Dur-ham Morris Debating Medals. The selection was made after a lively debate in assembly last Tuesday, when Oordon Bethers and Lola Tucker Tuc-ker debated against Mitchell Lunt and Doris Brown on the state question, ques-tion, Resolved: That the Federal Government should provide a System Sys-tem of complete Medical Care A-vallable A-vallable to All Citizens at Public Expense. Last week end the debate squad traveled to Ogden to attend the Weber College Invitational Speech meet. Arrangements to attend were made so late that they were unable to participate, but they heard some stimulating debates and profited greatly from the excursion. During the next two weeks before the District Speech Meet the debate squad plans to travel to Ephralm and other school In that area for practice debates. The debating squad Includes: Doris Brown, Lois Tucker, Grace Esplin, Mitchell Lunt, Oordon Bethers Be-thers and David Dix. Besides debate the Cedar High school Is entering three people ta the panel, an original oration, and an extemporaneous speaker. Eliminations Elim-inations have not yet been held in these fields, so the final participants will be announced at a later date.1 |
