Show Thirty Boxers To Compete In Elks A.A.U. Tourney At least thirty young boxers from Beawr, Iron, Washington, Kane and Oarfleld counties, will gather in Cedar City this week end for the Fourth Annual Southern Utah A A U Boxing Tournament, sponsored sponsor-ed by the local Elks Lodge No. 1556. The tournament, to be held in the Armory on Friday and Saturday Satur-day nights, March 14th and 15th, is the first since before the war, and the revival of the annual event is being enthusiastically received by young men of this area, school coaches and the fans alike. Bouts will be arranged in all weight division in both the junior and senior classes, with all boys over seventeen years of age assigned assign-ed to the senior division. All contestants con-testants will be weighed in Friday afternoon at which each one will be given a thorough physical examination ex-amination to make sure they are la condition for competition before they are allowed to enter the ring. Medals will be awarded to winners win-ners in each division, and in addition addi-tion each of the winners will be taken to the State AAU tournament tourna-ment to be held in Salt Lake City late In the month, with the local , Elks meeting all expenses of the local entrants in the state meet. As in all such tournaments there will be no draw decisions. Three Judges Jud-ges have been appointed to judge each contest and a winner must be named, with the Judges decisions final. A special medal will be awarded to the performer who Is judged by the official Judges and the referees refer-ees in the tournament as the outstanding out-standing boxer in the meet. A large attendance is expected, and in order to give fans a chance to get their tickets in advance the tickets have been placed on sale at the Thornton Drug, Goodie Oar-den Oar-den and Play Den. |
