Show Cedar City Set To Win Regional Beautification Trophy In Spirited Contest The Beautification Division of the Centennial Commission will award a handsome trophy to one community, com-munity, in the region composed of Beaver, Iron, Washington and Kane Counties, who conducts the most outstanding campaign and makes the best report on its Beautification Beautifica-tion activities. Cedar City is determined de-termined to have this trophy, and under the chairmanship of J. C, Haws of the City Beautification Committee, is throughly organized with civic clubs assisting, in an all out effort to do so . The entire city is divided into six wards, each ward headed by a chairman who has In turn appointed appoint-ed a captain for each block In his district. The captains are engaged at the present time in contacting each home owner in his block to determine what should be done to fix-up, paint-up and. plant-up his his place. The two weeks beginning March 10 have been designated as Fix-UP Weeks, and home owners are urged to concentrate on this particular phase of their beautification beautifica-tion plans during this time. All home owners will receive score cards on which they will check what they have done to beautify their prop-ertles. prop-ertles. These score cards will be collected and tabulated by the cen-tral cen-tral committee and the results there shown will go to determine whether Cedar City wins the throphy. In addition to the score card results re-sults the central committee must show, pictures of community and private projects both before and after the improvements take place. The Rotary and Lions Clubs are working on the approaches to the city. They are Inst ailing large new neon signs and checking on old signs to see If they need repairs or to be torn down. The Junior Chamber of Commerce is handling the over-all clean up Job.
