Show SPOTLIGHTING UTAH! New Relief Map Ready For Distribution In answer to a heavy demand for a new and accurate relief map of the State, the Raw Materials Ma-terials Division of the State Publicity Pub-licity and Industrial Development in cooperation with the United States Geological Survey have prepared such a map which is now ready for distribution. The map is available at the UPID 512 Atlas Building, Salt Lake City, Utah at the small price of fifty cents per copy. Every modern technique and skill in map making has been used in the development of this map. Aerial photography and photographic techniques developed develop-ed during World War II for the preparation of secret Army maps were utilized. Cartographers from the U. S. Geological Survey, Utah Colleges and the State Department Depart-ment of Publicity and Industrial Development have proofed the map and everything possible has been done to Increase the accuracy ac-curacy and readability of this new Utah map. Western Wonderlands Via Salt Lake City That Utah is gaining steadily as a "tourist destination" is shown from the records established estab-lished during the past few years. The popularity of our scenic spots In growing rapidly and along with this popularity increased in-creased effort on the part of travel tra-vel bureaus and transportation agencies to bring travel traffic into this district is being made. One of the recent brochures to receive attention is a very attractive at-tractive full color folder, 17 by 22 inches, titled "Western Wonderlands Wonder-lands via Salt Lake City". It has' been prepared by the Overland) Greyhound Lines. This piece of travel literature points out that Salt Lake City is the gateway to all Western Wonderlands. It contains two pictures of Zlon National Park, one of Bryce, Temple Tem-ple Square, and Saltair resort all In full color. It points out that all major attractions of the west can easily and readily be reached reach-ed from Salt Lake. City as a western starting point. One hundred hun-dred thousand copies will be distributed dis-tributed which will make a real contribution to travel in Utah. In the National Mag (nines National magazines have been more than generous with space publicizing Utah, especially dur-ing dur-ing the past few months. This is further evidence of Utah's increased in-creased popularity as a tourist center. One of the most recent magazines maga-zines to publicize Utah Is "The Desert Magazine". This magazine features Travel and Recreational centers. On the cover of the October Octo-ber issue is featured the famous "Double Arch" located in the Arches National Monument in southeastern Utah. Harry Gould-Ing, Gould-Ing, famous lodge and trading post operator, in its leading article ar-ticle on travel, tells of motion picture companies "on location" in Monument Valley. Index of the current volume, published in the same issue, indicates that Utah is a popular subject for the magazine. During the past year, more than forty articles, featuring Utah's scenic and historical his-torical attractions all profusely illustrated, have been published. |
