Show Tourist Travel to Zion Park Show 7 Increase Travel to Zion National Park during the 1948 travel year, (October (Oc-tober 1, 1947 to September 30, 1948) increased approximately 7 per cent over the previous year, according to the official travel report released by the National Park Service this week. A total of 292,587 people visited visit-ed the park during the past year, as compared to 272,368 in the year previous. A total of 87,700 cars were registered at the park in 1947, and this was Increased to 95,211 this year. Every state in the union was represented, together with 26 for-eign for-eign countries. As usual California Califor-nia led in number of visitors with 89,682 of the visitors coming com-ing from that state. Utah was second highest with 82,214. 1111-nois 1111-nois was next with 10,651 visitors. Other states and the number of visitors were as follows: New York, 7,981; Ohio, 7,803; Arizona, 7,698; Michigan, 7,422; Nevada, 6,585; Colorado, 5,901; Texas, 5,-599; 5,-599; Pennsylvania, 4,637; Washington, Wash-ington, 4,269; Idaho, 3,858; Iowa, 3,845; Indiana, 3,485; Minnesota, 3,328; Missouri, 3,057; Nebraska, 2,972; Wisconsin, 2,927; New Jer-sey, Jer-sey, 2,682; Oregon, 2,452; and Kansas, 2,218. Seven other states, Florida, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Montana, and Wyoming, had more than 1500 visitors. Foreign countries represented included Argentina, Australia, Bali, Belgium, Bermuda, Brazil Bahamas, Canada, Chile, China, Czechoslovakia, Cuba, Denmark, Danish W. Indies, England, France, Finland, Germany, Guam Holland, Iceland, India, Italy, Japan, Ja-pan, Korea, and Mexico. The Parks Service report also showed a similar increase In travel tra-vel to Bryce National Park, with 175,298 visitors in 1948 as compared com-pared with 159,043 In 1947. |
