Show "We Make It With Wool" Contest Planned bv Wool Growers Auxiliary A good deal of enthusiasm is being shown this year In the "We Make It With Wool" contest sponsored by the Wool Growers Auxiliary. I Some girls are already working on their contest articles while others are looking for patterns and materials and outlining their plans. The officers and members of the Auxiliary of the Southern Utah Livestock Association are very anxious to have a large number of girls from this section of the state participate in the contest, and urge that the girls interested contact uwen ueai, Evelyn Webster, Marie Krueger or Mame Bulloch for Information. Entry rules for the contest, applicable ap-plicable In all cases, including the local, state, and national competitions, are as follows: 1. The contest is open to young women from 14 to 22 years of age. Contestants will be divided into two classifications: Junior and Senior. Junior class will Include In-clude all contestants from 14 thru 17. Senior class will include those from 18 to 22. Age of contestants at time of National contest termination, term-ination, January 15, 1949, shall be considered basis for classification. classifica-tion. 2. The contest has three divisions: divi-sions: Coats, Suits and Dresses for street, sports or formal wear. Each contestant may place only one garment in each division, but she may participate in one, two, or all three divisions. 3. Each garment must be one that has been made specifically for this contest and which has not been shown In any other public exhibit except local or state show-ings. show-ings. 4. All garments entered In the contest must be made of virgin wool and must carry a label or tag disclosing the fiber content as required by the Wool Products Labeling Act. 5. The entry garment may be made according to the contestant's contest-ant's own design, or by any of the commercial patterns, as, for Instance, those of Advance and McCall, who are contributors of prizes offered. ) 6. Each garment entered must be accompanied by a typewritten I letter of 200 words or less setting em forth: a. The fabric from which the garment was made, the reason rea-son for Its choice and its advantages advan-tages for the use Intended; b. The pattern used, or a statement that the garment was made according ac-cording to the entrant's own design; de-sign; c. The total Itemized cost of the garment, including fabrics, and all other component parts. Specific rules and regulations for entering local or state contests con-tests will be set up by the Auxll-lary Auxll-lary regional officers and may contain limitations or points in addition to those above. The national prizes include a 400 nrhnlarshln for hptt parment In all divisions of both the senior and junior classes, with $100 Savings Bond for the best suit, the best dress, and best coat, In both the senior and Junior class. Also 25 fabric dress lengths to honorable mention winners In both the Junior and senior classes, and ten fabric lengths to senior class contestants writing writ-ing the best ten letters accompanying accom-panying entries in the national fashion show. Special prizes will Include $100 savings bonds for best and $50 saving bonds for second best entry en-try made from Advance Pattern Co. pattern, and ten awards of $25 savings bond each for other outstanding garments made from Advance patterns, Irrespective of whether or not contestants have won other awards in the Home Sewing contest. Also $100 savings bond for best national entry garment made from a McCall Pattern Co. pattern, and twelve $25 saving bonds, one to a girl from each of the twelve participating states, exclusive of the winner of the McCall $100 award. These prizes will be given to contestants whose garments made from McCall Mc-Call patterns are considered outstanding out-standing irrespective of whether or not contestants have won other prizes in the contest. One year's scholarship to the Traphagen School of Fashion, New York, for the best national entry garment made from an original design. |
