Show Sheriff Kent Smith Named County Fire Coordinator County Coordinators to carry on the 1948 Utah Cooperative Fire Fighters program for the coming summer were named last week by J. Whitney Floyd of Logan, State Coordinator. Co-ordinator. Sheriff Kent Smith was made Iron county coordinator, and Earl E. House, District Grazier, was appointed as his assistant The annual area of grazing, watershed, wat-ershed, and timber lands burned in Utah has been greatly reduced each year since 1942, according to Mr. Floyd. However, the number of fires has remained approximately the same each year. Much credit for the fact that our fires burn less are.a goes to an awakened public pub-lic Interest in the prevention and quick suppression of fires. The people peo-ple of Utah have shown their appreciation ap-preciation of cooperative fire pre'-ventlon pre'-ventlon and control by going out wholeheartedly to reduce the damage dam-age by fire to our natural resources. Private companies and county and state departments who can help the program as they "fulfill their regular reg-ular duties have given and are giving giv-ing great assistance to fire prevention pre-vention and control work. A continued successful fire prevention pre-vention and control program can only be carried on through the excellent ex-cellent cooperation of our citizens and our public departments. |
