Show Expel Member of Commonij Charged Bribery In Story LONDON. - Garry Alllghan, Labor member of the house of commons com-mons and a London newspaper man, was expelled from Parliament He was expelled for "dishonorable" "dishonor-able" conduct In writing an article arti-cle for a newspaper trade journal alleging that members of the house accepted bribes to tell what went on in secret party caucuses. Arthur Helghway, editor of World's Press News, which published pub-lished the article last April, was called to the bar of the house where he admitted a "serious error of Judgment" and expressed his "sincere "sin-cere and humble apology," he was found guilty of "gross contempt of the house" and was reprimanded by the speaker. Allighan's expulsion was the first since 1922 when a member was voted out after he was convicted of a criminal offense for which he was sentenced to prison. |
