Show Sportsmen to Be Questioned on Hunting Success In order to determine the extent ex-tent of the legal harvest of Utah's big game, upland game birds, and waterfowl during the 1949 hunting seasons the Fish and Game department is mailing 40,000 questionnaire cards to hunters selected at random throughout the state. The questionnaires ques-tionnaires are on return-addressed postcards for which no postage is required. A few simple questions ques-tions are asked which can be answered with a checkmark, a word, or a short phrase. The information obtained from the questionnaire cards will be of great value to the game department de-partment in determining the numbers of game harvested from each of the hunting areas of the state, the distribution of hunters, and many other data that will be of great assistance assist-ance in the formulation of future fu-ture management programs. The degree oi success oi mis metnoa of determining the game kill is, of course, directly proportional to the ratio of cards returned. The game department therefore there-fore urges all hunters who receive re-ceive one of these cards to promptly fill in the requested information and drop it in a mail box. The holes punched around the margins of the cards will be used for coding the information in-formation so that it may be automatically au-tomatically tabulated. It is thus important that they not be torn out or otherwise mutilated. Approximately 20 per cent of the big game hunters, 10 per cent of pheasant hunters, and 10 per cent of the waterfowl hunters hunt-ers will be mailed the questionnaire question-naire cards. The names and addresses ad-dresses of the persons to be so contacted are obtained by random ran-dom selection from the license stubs. |
