Show Two Utah 4-H'ers Win Special Recognition OUTSTANDING records ot achievement in the 1949 National Na-tional 4-H Dairy Production and tlnmo Grounds Iioautitiration pro-grama pro-grama have won two I'tah club mcmbera state championship honors. The winners and brief outlines of their records follow: Robtrt Gillman Julen Bunker A special honor has been accorded accord-ed to Robert Cillman, 18, of Pleasant Pleas-ant tlrove for excellent work in the National 4-1 1 Dairy Production program. As state winner he received re-ceived a $1'5 U. S. savings bond. A 4-1 Per for seven years, Robert developed a herd of Jersey dairy cattle. He was active In club affairs, af-fairs, serving as president, vice president and reporter. Robert has entered 14 judging and livestock showmanship contests, winning several awards, among which was a registered Jersey heifer calf at the Utah state fair. Kraft Foods Company provides all awards In this program. To receive State honors in the 1949 Home Grounds neautiflcation program means that a lot of planning plan-ning and hard work have gone into the project. It means, too, that the results not only reward the winner, win-ner, but provide lasting joy and beauty for other members of the 4-11 family. This honor went to Julcne Hunker, 15, of Delta, who completed 10 4-H projects during five years. She planted a flower garden with 10 varieties of flowers, kept the lawn cut, weeded and watered. She also helped build a lily pond and three bird baths Mrs. Charles R. Walgreen, Chlcagr horticulturist, presented Julcni with a handsome 17-jewel pole wrist watch. Vhesn activities are condurtec under the direction of the Kxten sion Service of the State Agricultural Agricul-tural College and USDA cooperating. |
