One of the important items which will be considered con-sidered at this gathering will be .planning for the State Municipal League Convention to be held In Cedar City in August. 3 The newly formed City Planning Commission "is now meeting regularly regu-larly on the second and last Wednesday Wed-nesday evening of each month. D. C. Dix has been selected as Chairman; Chair-man; Burns L. Flnlinsoa. Vice Chairman; and Wlrth Bulloch, as Secretary, Each member of the Commission has been assigned a particular field of Ftudy and investigation. Mrs. Gronway Parry and Mrs. George Croft are workng on nro- blems re'iative to city recreation facilities. William Thorley and Theron Ashcroft on street location and Improvements; I. E. Riddle, Droblems relative to zoning; D. C Dix on sidewalks, curb and gutter development. Burns L. Fillnson will make Investigation relative to :ivic center needs. i's i't f -ir -it- Councilman Flnllnson was re-:ently re-:ently appointed to membership on i committee of the Utah State Municipal League which Is making a thorough study of City Licensing n all the Incorporated cities of Utah. It is planned to have this lata gathered so that use may be nade of it when the League meets n Convention at Cedar City In August. It Is the general belief that Utah is In need of a uniform system sys-tem of licensing among cltles o' omparuble population. . Mr. Flnllnson is responsible for the collection of data from the lineteen cities of Beaver, Iron and Washington counties, The city has secured a large incinerator, in-cinerator, which has been placed 'oehlnd the business buildings, jervlng the firms from the J. C. Penney stors to the Library. Clarice Clar-ice Miller w..3 responsible for the construction and design. He shou'd jet a patent on the design. Individual Individ-ual citizens could well use one of these smaller "Miller" incinerators or home u.ce. Business firms in the neighborhood neighbor-hood of the Oooclie Garden will find an incinerator for their use. Thisshould help to keep the va-:ant va-:ant lot to the East cleaner. It now looks like "no man's land.' We hope that all ere getting ready to Join with the Junior Chamber in the great Spring 21ean-up. Let's really give our home town a Spring face lifting. 3 Have you noticed the new gravel-d gravel-d alley way running through the V.ock from Center Street to Hard-'ng Hard-'ng Avenue? Thls will aid greatly n rcrvicing of the business firms. Now that travel Is so easy down the alley the business firms are on the spot lrt so tcr as cleanliness of their 'Jack yards Is concerned. We wish to express our city thanks to those who gave property and the Telephone Tele-phone Company and Southern Utah Power Company for cooperating in the removal of the old lines and the building of new ones. |
