Show B. A. C. Basketeers Play Practice Games, Show Scoring Punch The Branch Agricultural College basketball team played its first practice games this week, the results re-sults indicating that Couch Tv Tydings will have a high scorin ; I squad this year and at the sam" time will have a powerful defend. The Aggies defeated the Panaci All-Stars 40 to 3G In the first game, and last night trimmed th" Firmage commercial team from S:. George by a score of 71 to 53. The Coach has not yet found his most promising combination, but the game last night indicated that he has fine individual performers, and if hey develop as a team, conference con-ference opponents can expect plenty of trouble. Coach Tydings has four or five men battling for the starting positions posi-tions as guard, each of whom have looked good thus far. Elliott Cameron, Cam-eron, who conies from Springville touted as or. 1 f the best guards in Utah high ? :.-o circles, seems to be living up to all proniLses. He U fast and heady, and can score as well as break up opponents' plays with ease. Deb Warner, a member of last year"s squad, looks better this year, and has done some good work. Vlv Adams of Kanab. a husky sauthpaw, has also shown much promise, as has Ray Engle-sted Engle-sted of Panguitch, Bryant Leigh of Cedar and Dan RosequLst of Marys-vale. Marys-vale. Sandy Jorgensen, who, as a member mem-ber of the Orderville high school team, was rated as one of the be.t players In high school competition, showed last night that he is going to be among the leaders in Junior college circles as well. Reed Rosen-bere. Rosen-bere. a last year Cedar high school player, Is doing well and crowding Jorgensen for the center position. Deward Millett, a last year squad member, was "hot" last nlsht, scor- - ing sensationally from all parts of the floor. His ball handling an.1 resulting was also good. Captain S'ott Larson, starting at the otlvr forward spot, p'.nyed his usu.xl smooth game, and seemed to have unproved his shooting ability, ma'-.n; ma'-.n; him a very promising player. Wayne Robbins of Fillmore, a small I bni snappy forward, looked very good. He Is a ball hawk, passes well, and seems to be a "dead shot" al the hoop. Tommy Fullmer of Circle-ville Circle-ville and Doiu; Farnow of Milford also broke into the lineup l:ust nii-'ht and showed tonsiderable promise. The team will play another game Saturday night, meeting the Pa-naca Pa-naca team in the B. A. C. gymnasium gym-nasium at 8 p. m. |
