Show Member of State Defense Council Visits Cedar City Dan M. Whelan of Salt Lake City, Regional Director of the Utah Council of Defense, spent Tuesday in Cedar City meeting with city and county officials in connection con-nection with the activities of the Iron County Defense Council. Mr. Whelan reported that Iron County was one of the slowest counties in the state to get its Defense Council to working and urged that steps be taken to get his defense work started immediately. As a result of Mr. Whelan's visit, a meeting of the Council, which consists of Samuel F. Leigh, chairman, chair-man, Henry Oberhansley, S. C. Lamb, Ernest Greer, Warren Bulloch Bul-loch and Jim Marsden, has been called for Friday evening at which time an investigation will be made as to the defense needs of the county and plans made for taking tak-ing care of those needs. It is understood under-stood that already guards have been stationed at various vital points in the county as a defense measure. While here Mr. Whelan also announced an-nounced that Governor Herbert B. Maw had called a meeting of the 29 county chairmen of the state, the 13 chairmen of the State Defense De-fense Council, the seven members of the State Advisory Council and other officers of the state organization organ-ization to be held in Salt Lake City on January 5. Activities of the Council and problems arising in connection with their duties will be discussed at the Salt Lake City meeting. u u |
