Show BOOZE WINS I 11O07.E won a derMpd vlrtorV lait Friday (the 19th) when Gov Spry heeded woll tho outsnokpn nd vlco of tho rood old Tribune and ve. toed the Wootten statewido prohlbi-tlon prohlbi-tlon bill, and it will bo but n few months hefore our fair stnte will be ovorrun by the element kicked out by Utah's more progresslvo sister states whom our chief executive openly invites in-vites to come to Utah now firmly established es-tablished in tho eyes of tho whole country as n safe retreat for tho dovil booze with all its imps. Utah is now guaranteed perfectly "wet" at least until another legislature is elected and a man placed in the governor's chair who will honestly endeavor to restore and preserve Utah's name as a state honestly jealous of her position posi-tion as a leader in the encouragement of clean moral life. The Literary Digest, which some thrco weeks ago placed Utah among tho nineteen "dry" stntcs, did our governor a severe injustice. That excellent magazino must hnve presumed presu-med that our chief executive would follow tho almoust unnnimous lead of the members of oar legislature and give tho peoplo what he, as well as everyone elso, knows they want with nil their heart, but he seems not to be that kind of a man. Wo do hope, however, that this individual, who, for reasons known only to himself, refuses to do tho will of the people, and not any political party or religious religi-ous faction, will bo blamed for this distinct step in a backward direction and that Wm. Spry and no ono else will get tho lambasting that his unscrupulous un-scrupulous use of a great power justly just-ly entitles him to. However, it is all done, and it is useless to shed tears but wo would take an intense delight if Bro. Spry woro called to go from "black" Utah to some "white" state where booze docs not have the upper hand, to preform another mission, and there experience for himself the awkward burden his recent action places upon the boys who go from Utah to preach to tho peoplo of tho world.
