Show LOCAL, STEAM LAUNDRY GOES TO BURLBY, IDAHO It is a matter of regret to many local lo-cal people that the steam laundry that was installed here some time ago by -Mr. G. R. Parry and associates, has been sold and stalled on its way to Hurley, Idaho, which is a much larger and rapidly growing town. After a thorough trial, it was found that there was not enough business here in that line to justify the operation of a plant so large and complete, and Mr. Lewis, who first became interested in connection connec-tion with Mr. Parry, later interested Idaho capital with him and buying Mr. Parry's interest, made arrangements arrange-ments to move the plant to Burley. Mr. Lewis states that in Cedar City the plant's earnings for a week never reached the $100-mark, while he has contracts already at Burley signed up for $.'100 worth of work per week. Under these conditions it is plain to see why the laundry has left us. The product of the laundry proved more expensive than the people here had become accustomed to, and it requires re-quires time to induce people to change their habits and customs. In time, there is no doubt, the laundry would have been a paying business here, but Mr. Lewis put it, "What's the use of wasting your time learning people when there are other places that are ready for the service and are willing to pay for it." |
