Brondel visited Anaconda on Sundav for the purpose of administering the sacrament of confirmation to the Catholic Cath-olic children at St. Peter's and St. Paul's churches in this city. The services at St. Peter's Catholic church began at 10:30 a. m., when high mass was sung by the pastor. Father Coopman, assisted by Fathers Mallo and Cassidy. Immediately after mass the sacred rite of confirmation was administered ad-ministered by Bishop Brondel. Before the service the children had met at the residence of the parish priest, and, attired at-tired in their confirmation robes, marched to the church. The little girls were all dressed in spotless white, denoting de-noting purity. They made a pretty appearance ap-pearance and the services which followed fol-lowed when they reached the church were beautiful and impressive. During mass the music by the choir was grand. The choir of St. Peter's church is recognized rec-ognized as one of the best in the state, and they fairly excelled themselves yesterday. Following are the selections that were rendered: "Kyrie," "Gloria." "Credo," Farmer's mass in B flat, "Sanctuc," Mozart's 12th mass, "Agnus Dei," Millard's mass in B flat; "V'eni Creator," Millard's mass in G. Confirmation at St. Paul's Catholic church wras in the evening. At the morning mass at 8 o'clock. Father Fol-let Fol-let was the celebrant. At 11 a. m. solemn sol-emn hish mass was sune bv Rev. Father P. Rosier, professor of chemistry chemis-try at All Hallows college. Salt Lake. He also delivered a short but eloquent sermon that was highly appreciated by those present. The confirmation of the children by his lordship w-as at 7:30 in the evening. Like that at St. Peter's church there was a short parade by the children. The church edifice was fairly crowded and hundreds were unable un-able to gain an entrance. Bishop Brondel, Bron-del, after confirmation, delivered a I short address, in which he dwelt on the sacredness of the rite, and also told why it was administered. He also spoke of the Lord's Prayer, and said that any person who followed that prayer and the precepts of the church would lead a happy, Christian life. Bishop Brondel has recently returned from a visit to Rome, and he spoke briefly on the many beautiful sights of the holy city. |
