Show MISS EVA DELORIMER'S SALUTATORY. SALU-TATORY. Be Faithful. Once more we are wafted by the wings of time to the scenes of joy and sadness which are characteristic of commencement day. Happily it has fallen fal-len to my lot to extend to you all our heartiest welcome on this grand occasion. occa-sion. Jet welcome, welcome float along the breeze. And be carolled by birds among the trees; Let each small flower its perfume sweet 1'iute with us our friends to greet. Welcome to you beloved bishop, your cheerful countenance and kindly words were jnissed by us during your long absence, but your safe return brought us joy and we are tilled with delight to have you with us tonight. Welcome, ye holy priests of God, who were ever ready to help us in our spiritual spir-itual combats. Welcome to the loved ones who have gathered here tonight to see us launched on the sea of life. Yes, welcome friends both kind and true, welcome, welcome, one and all. Another year has glided by and tonight to-night all lifes' pictures are vividly iu ( d before us. Like the sun in the astern sky, slowly mounting above the horizon, our memory presents happy visions of by gone days and like the rainbow, sheds its'varied hues, coloring col-oring anil illuminating each dreamy thought. In looking back we find that our stepping stone to success in the duties du-ties that bestrewed our pathway, was faithfulness: so ve have selected for our class motto, one in which are embodied em-bodied many noble sentiments, "Be Faithful." AH young ladies cannot aspire as-pire to the same degree of excellence in the more showy accomplishments of a varied education, but all can and ought to emulate those charming qualities qual-ities of heart and mind which will ever render their possessor the favorite of the loved ones at home and their large circle of admiring friends, among these happy dispositions we claim faithfulness faithful-ness as iueen of the realm. Who, is there who cannot be faithful? Were it a question of higher mathematics, algebra, al-gebra, geometry or trigonometry, .then indeed might some withdraw in despair! de-spair! Rut no. faithfulness is an ennobling ennob-ling and charming virtue within the reach of all. What young lady is there who cannot render her home a paradise para-dise on earth by her faithful administrationsher adminis-trationsher cheerful smjle. Oh. how j:iuch can each faithful sister do in her ow n domestic circle! So much care to be lightened for her fond self-sacrificing mother. Blessed, noble mother! What she has endured during those long years of separation is known onlv to the great Sean her of hearts, who sustained sus-tained her during that painful yet loving lov-ing ordeal. Then too. there is so much happiness to be planned for a beloved father, young children to h; potted youn.u- brothers to be counseled and tiain-d -older brothers to be encouraged encour-aged and reformed. As we pause on the world's thresh-liold thresh-liold our Alma Mater whispers a warning warn-ing sweet and clear: My dear children, "Be faithful." forever to your holy religion, re-ligion, which, is the source of every I blessing and ocean of all good. Be faithful faith-ful to the? teachings of your spiritual directors, for they will bring consolation consola-tion and relief in all your troubles in the hour of need. Be faithful always to your loving parents, who from the first moment of your existence looked upon :u as their idols and when every one else seems to be against you. uu will be comfident of true friends in a devoted mother and indulgent father. Be faithful to the counsels of the-good the-good Sisters, who desire that you engrave en-grave on your heart as well as your coat of arms your beautiful class motto, mot-to, "lie Faithful." as an inspiration of a life of unselfish devotion to your y home, jour country and your God. And when the lengthening glow ofsunset ofsun-set rars Athwart life's minelrd light and shadow shad-ow plays. When earth joys dim. Eternity draws near. If hopefully death's summons thou wouldn'st hear. And win the crown that life's long ton repays. Be faithful! |
