Show BLESSED A NEW FLAG. St. John the Baptist and Croation societies, so-cieties, two local societies composed of Austrian Catholics and an Austrian society from Anaconda headed by a band, paraded the streets Sunday morning mor-ning and then marched to St. Patrick's church. The occasion was the blessing of a handsome flag for the St. John the Baptist society. The ceremony was performed pust after the conclusion of the 10 o'clock mass and was a very impressive affair. There were about 600 members of the different societies in line, and as they reached the steps the band remained outside playing a march as the uniformed members filed into church. After the blessing Father De Siere made a short address to those present. Father De Siere celebrated a solemn high mass at St. Patrick's church with Father Blaere serving as deacon, Father English as sub-deacon and Father Callahan master of ceremonies. cere-monies. Instead of the usual sermon Father De Siere gave a most interesting talk on his trip to Europe, telling of the many places of interest visited, particularly partic-ularly the trip to Rome. After mass the papal blessing.. was bestowed upon the cpngregation by Father De Siere. a privilege which was conferred upon him personall yby Pope Leo XIII. |
