Show MISS ADA DELORIMER'S VALEDICTORY. VALE-DICTORY. Tonight we launch out on that sea along whose shores until now we have lingered., gathering and treasuring prec ious -iearls.- When successful,, we felt a loving hand clasp ours, encourag-' ing us to seek deeper; if deficient in ! ur search, we again felt that clasp ' and were made to understand Jhat we must not falter in 'our search, for without with-out the jewels we- would be-unable to "J th tW f .ich we tiehed '. : ' when we would be free from yhat we thoughtlessly styled -class routine or thraldom. As the time for us to sail on the mighty ocean of life draws nigh, the shore on which we spent our girlhood days becomes dearer to us than ever. The air, redolent of perfume and vocal with sweetest melodies, the stars or earth robing in beauty the mountain side, even the light footsteps and merry laughter echoing through the classic halls of our alma mater proclaim the parting hour. Yes, the eventful hour is here the prize is ours; we kneel and kiss the shore, enter our canoe and as the cruel . waves tear us away from those we love, we turn .and cast one last look on all. The w ord good by echoes on all sides and will ever sound in our ears as the sweet tones of a silver bell. ! 'Neath our joyous smiles trembles many a silent tear. Thin day so long the beacon light of learning's ways, the goal brightening weary hours, turns I the current of affection which flowed so strong and deep through childhood's fairy landscape, to the mighty ocean of life. True, girlhood's halcyon mo-. ments still are ours, but ere the moun-. tain be tinged with the crimson glow of tomorrow's sun they will be for us no more. Oh, the peace, the mild sovereignty sov-ereignty of those blissful years spent . in dear St. Vincent's! How oft shall j fond memory bring their light around me. m On the sea of life we w ill be accompanied accom-panied by friends, but it is almost cer- tain that we will also be followed by enemies. The most, perfect man had . enemies, why should we expect 4 o be . free from them? Some there will be who will delight in despoiling us of -those jew els which have taken years to acquire, and which we are still labors lng to perfect. We have learned that A the only means to .save our frail boat from being wrecked when thus tossed " to and fro is to pray to Him who calm- H ed the waves of the sea, and we will A be anchored safe. Today we say fare- 4 well to our alma mater, but may we 4 never say farewell to her teachings. Fond schoolmates, it has been our good fortune to reach the port in safety 1 towards whicn you are steering; you rejoice that this day brings your nearer graduation, you too will have to pay the tribute of regret to unrelenting time; your aspirations of today were ours one year ago, and our sadness of today may be yours a year hence. Cherish well the precious moments of your school days and sigh not for the end. Farewell. Long shall our thoughts linger with you. devoted Sisters, our best, our truestfriends. Lovingly shall gratitude's who have striven not alcfhe to store our w ho hace striven not alone to -store our minds with facts, but to lay the foundation foun-dation of useful, practical knowledge, without which the true end of education educa-tion is never attained. Thus each char acter is developed, thus is each fitted for her sphere in this changeful world. Farewell to you all, dear Sisters, our gratitude deep for jour counsels and teachings, our lives will tell, and "though far from this eden of peace we may roam, we will oft pray that its spirit may ever dwell with us, and when time has rolled its happy round, may angels bear you aloft where your hopes find anchor safe. "To those blessed realms of light, j messed realms mat Know no parting, know no shadow, know no light." Revered Re-vered and loved guardians of our youth, farewell. To you, Right Rev. Bishop and fftev. Fathers, is -due our deepest gratitude for your untiring zeal in preparing us for this great voyage of life; and, oh, may our bark bear us safely onward and upward until in glory crowned we shall hear the voice of the heavenly teacher respond in sweet tones, veil done to our question. Tonight we launch; where shall we anchor? Beloved Bishop and Rev. Fathers, farewell. Beloved convent home, farewell. |
