Show I Catholic Edo cation : X Making Great Progress In Glorious : X Old Aontana. X Bishop Brondel and Zealous Clergy ' and Sisters Have Done Magnificent Work in the Land Where Father De Smet Planted the Cross More Than Half a Century Ago Commencement Days and the Lessons they Impart to the Rising Catholic Generation. (By Bessie M. Lawlor.) (Correspondence Intermountain Catholic.) Helena, Mont., June 25. The commencement com-mencement exercises of St. Vincent Academy were held last Monday evening, even-ing, June 25, at Ming's Optra House. The attendance was large and the programme pro-gramme rendered far excelled anything of the kind ever held in Helena. All j the music for the occasion was fur- nished by the St. Vincent's orchestra, j both the voca! and instrumental. The first number on the programme was the entrance march in which the 1 pupils all took part, marching and 1 keeping time to "Shubert's March," j played by the orchestra, and ending I with the song and chorus, "Birds of Spring." Miss Eva Delorimer, one of the graduates, delivered a worthy and appropriate essay, taking for her subject sub-ject the class motto, "Be Faithful." Her delivery, sincerity and earnestness proved that the words of her salutatory came from the deepest recesses of the heart and were nut words that came merely from the lips alone. The beautiful drama, "Pontia:" Daughter of Pilate, was well presented and every part well played. The drama and scenery are founded on the early trials of Christianity during the reign of Pilate. The many difficult parts taken gave an opportunity to display all dramatic talents possessed by the pupils. And, indeed, the whole play was a marvelous success and exhibited extraordinary ex-traordinary proficiency in an unlimited degree. The vocal music was of a very high order and the double quartette evoked much hearty applause from the audience, audi-ence, as also, the solos by Miss Eva Delorimer. The "Fairy Wand Drill." by the juniors was a . ery prettily executed ex-ecuted number. The calcium lights? making the fairy likeness seem more real, an "Evening Revel" lead by Miss Nellie Langlois, in which the "gypsy dance" was gracefully done, and. for perfection, ease and eraee. could not be outdone by any number on the programme. pro-gramme. The little tots dressed in white, with dresses strewn with flowers and lavender laven-der sashes, completely captivated the I audience when they made their appearance. appear-ance. They marched, drilled and danced as one large moving picture and kept perfect time with the music. The "Victory "Vic-tory March" and "Good Night" song were also excellently rendered by all. Miss Ada De Lorimer's valedictory. "To-night We Launch; Where Shall We Anchor?" appealed strongly to many in the audience and the classmates of the academy. Miss Delorimer spoke clearly ' and plainly and in sympathetic tones bade good bye to her dear classsmates; the dear and ever kind priests: the faithful and fondly devoted sisters of St. Vincent's academy. Bishop Brondel and Rev. Father's Day, Aiken and Burns of the cathedral, occupied boxes with Father's O'Brien of Livingston and Vermaat of Lewiston, as their guests. The bishop presented the two graduates. Misses Eva and Ada Delorimer. De-lorimer. with their diplomas, and other duly earned prizes which fell to their lot. He spoke to the graduates upon the fitfulness of their beautiful class motto, "Be Faithful," and urged them to be as faithful in the duties, which must fall to their lot in the future, as they had been to the ones in the past within the hallowed walls of St. Vincent's Vin-cent's academy, and to ever bear in mind the beautiful example portrayed in the drama presented by me pupils on their graduation. Montana is surely to be congratulated upon having such an institution as St. Vincent's academy. When we read of the grand exercises taking place all over the Intermountain West nd stop to view our own surroundings, our hearts naturally swell with pride and joy to behold such talent; such excellence excel-lence and such a magnificent performance, perform-ance, as has been the pleasure of the many friends, parents and admirers of St. Vincent's academy to behold on this occasion. We give a list of the promotions, promo-tions, prizes, etc., well earned by the pupils for application, good conduct and faithfulness to their studies. This has been a very successful year or the academy, the enrollment being the largest lar-gest ever known in the hostory of the institution. ' Montana s fair daughters .re making mak-ing wonderful progress on all sides, and with much pleasure all accounts of them are interestingly read by the Intermountain In-termountain Catholic readers. All those who had the good fortune to witness the commencement exercises of St. Vincent's Vin-cent's academy will voice the sentiment of the writer in acknowledging them, to be the best ever rendered in the capital capi-tal city of Montana.
