Show j RHYOLITE, NEV. John McHugh, a well-known member mem-ber of Bonanza Miners' union, returned yesteraay irom an extended trip to Ireland. Con O'Donnell, general manager of the Homestake King, returned this week from San Francisco. Pat M. Carvill, formerly superintendent superin-tendent of the Homestake, came down from the Seven Troughs country on Wednesday. May Phelan celebrated her eight birthday with her schoolmates Tuesday Tues-day afternoon. They all had an excellent excel-lent time. Besides netting the Ladies' Aid society soci-ety of St. Mary's Catholic church a snug little sum, which will probably exceed $150, the social given at the opera house Thursday evening was prolific of much enjoyment. The costumes cos-tumes of the ladies were particularly noticeable by their elegance, a great many observers remarking that the gathering . was one of the most fashionable fash-ionable functions of a public social nature na-ture that has been pulled off in this camp for several moons. The music was' furnished by four members of the recently organized Rhyolite band. It was 11 o'clock when part one of the neat little program was finished and the suggestion printed print-ed on the program, "Let's eat," was without question adopted by young and old, especially by the latter, who seem to have made up at the table what they lacked on the dance floor. All the coffee was donated by Cook & Fleming, while the ladies contributed contribut-ed the cakes and made the sandwiches. The refreshments, especially the coffee cof-fee and cake, were delicious. The la dies who carried the enterprise to such a successful issue, both financially financial-ly and otherwise, are entitled to great credit, but with so many ladies It would be unfair eye, even dangerous, to the reporter to particularize.
