Show OGDEN, UTAH. 1 (Special Correspondence.) , Mrs. Thomas Fitzgerald has returned to her Idaho home, after spending a pleasant two weeks with her children, who are attending school at Sacred Heart academv. Miss Francis Joyce leaves next Tuesday Tues-day for Ann Arbor. Mich., where she expects to spend the winter studying music. The Diction club, under the direction of Mrs. Lillian Farnsworth, will hold its regular weekly meeting at the home of Miss Mae Hume. 'Fred J. Kiesel has invested in more real estate. He bought from the trustees trus-tees of the Church of the Good Shepherd Shep-herd the corner of Twenty-fourth street and Lincoln avenue. This on account ac-count of its splendid location is a valuable valu-able acquisition to his already extensive exten-sive possessions. Joseph Langsdorf on last Thursday evening handed in the headquarters his refusal to accept the nomination for city recorder on the Democratic ticket, saying that he had made other plans which would be likely to conflict with such an office. Miss Mary Wright, the popular young niece of Mrs. James Kimball, has returned re-turned to her home in Indiana, after a very pleasant summer spent in Og-den. Og-den. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Peery and family fam-ily expect to pass the winter in Salt Lake, where they hope to benefit the health of Mrs. Peery, who is quite ill. Miss Minnie Kiesel was the guest last week of friends at the capital. A special train was run from Salt Lake to Ogden over the Rio Grande Saturday morning for the benefit of Salt Lake school teachers, who spent the day In our beautiful canyon, re turning home the same evening at 7:30. The Ogden High school football team has at last achieved success in the exciting ex-citing contest which was fought Saturday Satur-day afternoon at Glen wood against the Alumni. Great things were expected from both parties and great things resulted re-sulted but the "veterans" proved no match for the "kids," as the game resulted re-sulted in the score of 6 to 0 in favor of the latter. Miss Loretta Whalen expects to leave soon, for Michigan, where she will spend the winter with her aunt. C. W. Lowry, who Is convalescing from a severe Illness, has been ordered or-dered to San Diego for the winter, and will leave some time this week. He will be accompanied by his wife. V The old postoffice at North Ogden has been discontinued and made a general gen-eral station. A miniature postoffice has been started In Badcon's drug store for the convenience of those who cannot reach the postoffice during business busi-ness hours. . In spite of an exceedingly heavy rainstorm, the congregation was very well represented at early mass Sunday. Special mention is due the St. Aloysius society, which attended holy communion com-munion in a body, and it was more creditable and showy than the Sodality has made in some time. Mrs. J. Grlce is still at Holy Cross hospital, Salt Lake,- but recovering rapidly after having undergone a very successful operation. The Children of Mary met with Miss Daisy Maginnls Tuesday evening to make further arrangements concerning the .booth which will be under their care at the coming "Autumn Festival." All came prepared . for earnest work, and deft fingers skilfully plied their needles, keeping in view only the desired de-sired object. The Young Boys' society under the direction of Rev. Father Ryan, met Sunday afternoon at the Knights of Columbus hall for the purpose of electing elect-ing officers. Charles A. Magulre was unanimously voted president, with Richard M. Laughran as financial secretary. sec-retary. Under such able directors we may expect a very flourishing state of affairs. Real-ities." An enthusiastic crowd of 1.000 people greeted him with a great oration, ora-tion, and all declared that in matter and delivery his lecture could not well be excelled. Entertainment from such people, to say the least, is a great literary lit-erary treat, and much credit is due the managers in obtaining for us such able men.
