j RETIRED FROM MAFEKING. i Reported That Boer Besiegers Have Withdrawn. Gaberones, Bechuanaland, Wednesday, Wednes-day, Jan. 17 via Lourenzo Marquez, Jan. 23. Natives who have just arrived ar-rived report that British troops, not Boers, are patrolling around Mafeking. From this it i3 conjectured that the i Boers may have retired from that place and that the patrollers are some of Colonel Baden-Powell's men. There Is increased activity in the Boers' position at Crocodile Pools but with the exception of a couple of shells, Colonel Plumer's outposts have not heard from them today.,
