Show T About COO persons met hist Tuesday night in Bricklayers' Hall in -East Twenty-fourth utreet, New York, and formed the Dr. McGlynn Memorial association, as-sociation, the avowed purpose of which is first to raise money to pay the late Father McGlynn'a debts and afterwards to erect a monument to his memory.. The meeting was presided over by Sylvester Syl-vester L. Malone, and about 'half the persons present were women. Mr. Malone Ma-lone said that Dr. McGlynn had left many debty which must be paid. He did not tell the amount of the debts, but it is naid by some persons who. were at the meeting that they amount to between be-tween $10,000 and $13,000, and consist of obligations for money borrowed and used to aid those who were in need. John J. Bealin also spoke. The association associa-tion elected Mr. Malone president, the Rev. B. L. Burtsell .treasurer, and Thomas J. MoMahon, secretary, and began be-gan its work by taking up a collection which amounted to about $3"0. It was agreed to hold a big public meeting to further the purposes of the association on Sunday after next. |
