Show Indians of United States. There are 299,870 Indians in the United States, according to statistics which appear in the forthcoming 1910 official Catholic directory, published by the M. H. Witlzius company, Milwaukee Milwau-kee and New York. These statistics were carefully prepared by the Rev. William H. Ketcham, Indian Mission Bureau. Washington, D. C. The directors of the Indian Mission Bureau are: Cardinal Gibbons, Baltimore; Balti-more; Archbishop Ryan, Philadelphia; the Very Rev. E. R. Dyer, S. S., D. D.; the Rev. William H. Ketcham. Father Ketcham has for many years been connected con-nected with the Indian Mission Buraau and is familiar with Indian facts. Of the Indian population in the United States, 117,124 live in Oklahoma, which is the largest from any state. The Catholic Cath-olic population among the Indians Is 55,711, with 138 priests among them. There are 93 Indian catechists, 197 chap els, 53 boarding schools, 17 day schools, 818 baptisms among the adults and 2,-769 2,-769 among the children, 1,286 confirmations, confirma-tions, 93,517 communions, 571 Christian marriages, and 1,157 Christian burials.
