Show GEORGE EDENS PAROLED. Slayer of Hi Henry's Partner Is Released. Re-leased. Boise, Ida., April 2. The state board of pardons met today and among other acts paroled George Edens, the slayer of Lou Crake, the Pearl miner who was a partner part-ner in mining matters of Hi Henry of minstrel fame. " . Two pardons were granted, as follows: F. Antone Valk, sent up from Kootenai countv on Dec. 27, 1897, for thirty years for robbery- Valk is dying with consumption. con-sumption. His brother in Wisconsin will take him home. The pardon Is conditional condi-tional on Valk's being out of the state. Leandr Lee. sent up from Blaine county coun-ty for life on Oct. 12, 1SS9, for murder in the second degree, was also pardoned. Lec is very ill of catarrh of the stomach. A brother in California will take care of him. ' The following were paroled on recommendation recom-mendation of Warden Arney: "William Becker, Nez Perce county, grand larceny, tive years from March 6. 1900; Hyrum Nei-beker. Nei-beker. Bear Lake county, assault, eighteen eigh-teen months, term almost expired: George Edens, Boise county, manslaughter, twelve months, had only forty-two days more to serve. The supreme court today issued a writ of mandate, on application of Sheriff Kroutinger of Nez Perce county, directed to the state board of examiners. The. writ is made returnable at Lewiston, April 7 The action was brought to com-nel com-nel the board to authorize the payment of the expenses of the sheriff of going after a fugitive from justice on a requisition issued bv Governor Hunt. For New Boise Railroad. Boise, Ida., April 2. George I. Schofield, son of ex-Governor Schofield of Wisconsin Wiscon-sin is here on timber business as the representative of his father and others, who are said to be backing the project of building a railroad from Boise to the timber belt. Suit on a Mining Deal. Boise, Ida., April 2. Suit has been begun be-gun in the I'nited States court by Charles C. Ruthrauff and Augustine Hayes of New York against Jacob E. Bloom of Cuba, Hiram L. Childs of Idaho and Joseph Jo-seph Smith of Montana for $12,000 damages dam-ages for not carrying out their contract in a recent mining deal. The defendants, it is alleged, agreed to give the plaintiffs a one-tenth interest in rich placer claims in Blaine county. |
