Show f B0ZEMAN, MONT. I! I ; I (Special Correspondence.) Mr. and Mrs. Hornung of Dubuque, la., are visiting their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kountz of this city. Miss May Gooch left Tuesday for Helena to visit with friends during carnival week. J. A. Kraker of Chicago spent Saturday Satur-day and Sunday in Bozeman on his way to the coast, visiting his brother, J. L. Kraker of the Gallatin Drug company. com-pany. The Ladies' Imperial band of this city, under , the leadership of Robert Chisholm left Friday for Butte to take part in the carnival and celebration there on the 4th. Martin Carroll, who has been visiting visit-ing his daughter in this city, left this week for Helena "Wednesday to spend a few weeks with his daughter, Mrs. P. T. McDermott. Miss Agnes Piedalue of Missoula arrived ar-rived In Bozement yesterday to spend a few weeks visiting her brother, Dr. Piedalue, and family. Bozeman is having an epidemic of smallpox In a mild form. Thirty cases have been reported up to date, and all are under quarantine. The theatres and al public places. even the churches, are closd. The circus that was billed here for the 4th was cancelled. can-celled. A crowd of young people drove out to the country home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Arnold, seven miles north of Bozeman, Boze-man, and celebrated the 4th. Dancing was Indulged in Saturday evening, and Ihe yard and porch was decorated with Japanese lanterns, which were lighted. Sunday was spent in shooting and fishing fish-ing and walking over the large farm. Music and singing was also a part of the program. Many good things to eat were in evidence, and a good time was the verdict of all. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Waterman, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Myers, Mr. and Mrs. John Kopp. Mr and Mrs. C. K. Grogan, Misses Hanly. Foster. Thompson. Arnold Ar-nold and Messrs. Steffens. Siedletz. George, Corbin, Miller, Snyder, Too-hey Too-hey and Father Vincents. A large crowd of young people spent the 4th at Mystic lake, taking their camping outfit and staying two days. They had a hard trip, but a Jolly good time. Those who participated were Mr. and Mrs?. Hornung and Kountz. Misses Kountz, Alward, Fridley. Tracy. Kinney, Van Dyke and Krueger. Messrs. Hornung, Kountz, Kinney, Alward Al-ward and Fridley. The Democratic state convention was held in this city on July 1. and was one of the most enthusiastic Democratic meetings ever held in this state to take part In national politics, and despite difficulties in transportation existing in some parts of the state, there was a .large attendance. It was a Bryan convention con-vention from start to finish. The famous fa-mous Boston & Montana band was present, and the music was certainly a treat. |
