Show WESTON YOUTH WINS LOCAL TRACTOR CONTEST In a tractor operating contest held October 14, on the Petterborg farm east of Preston Arthur Stevenson, Ste-venson, Weston, was declared winner win-ner over 7 young men from near by farms, The contest was supervised by McCune Motor company, local dealer deal-er in Ford tractors and Ferguson Implements, and all of the contestants contest-ants are members of the National Farm Youth Foundation. The Foundation is an education al program sponsored by The Ferguson Fer-guson Sherman Manufacturing corporation of Dearborn, Mich, with the cooperation of Henry Ford and Edsel Ford. Its purpose is to provide opportunity for young men from farms to acquire education educa-tion In Farm Engineering and Management. Without cost to themselves, the members ot the foundation are given giv-en a university extension course in Farm Engineering and Management, Manage-ment, prepared and edited by men vho know the theory and practice of modern agriculture. At the conclusion of this course of study, the young man who achieves the best record in this district will be given a contract covering a well paid Job with The Ferguson Sherman Mfg. Corp., and the man who stands next highest will have a similar position with the company's distributor in this state. Similar positions are offer, ed for exceptional work in other parts of the country, and other members of the foundation who attain at-tain high ranking will be Dut on an honor roll, and will be given business busi-ness opportunities as they become available.; The tractor operating contest Just held was a part ot the foundation's founda-tion's activity, and Arthur Stevenson, Steven-son, the local, winner will have a chance to qualify for a later contest con-test in which the first prize is a completely equipped Ford Tractor, with 14 inch two-bottom plow. There are 29 such jw-izes offered, for competition throughout the country. Runner-up and alternate to Stevenson Ste-venson for the trip to Salt Lake was Don Dalley of Dayton, Donald Petterborg finished in third place only two and a fraction points behind the winner and one point behind second place. T. R. Bowden, Wayne Evans, E. R. Spilsbury, Chase Kearl and Larry Robinson assisted in the Judging. |
