Show Tlie genial countenance of Andrew An-drew Kimball was seen on our streets, yesterday. F. W. Fishburn's school, in the Second ward was closed probably for the reason, yesterday. The First ward district schools engaged in a joyous dance, yesterday yester-day afternoon, in celebration the end of the third term. Brigham City has a Chamber of Commerce. The city has been visited by many strangers this week. Our town should have telephone connection with the depot. The Original Fisk Jubilee Singers at the Opera House next Friday. J. C. Gasberg is painting his business block, situated on Main street. Several letters were received, re-ceived, yesterday, too late for this issue. The brick residence of Mrs. Charlotte Nichols is being improved. im-proved. Chamber of Commerce meeting next Wednesday night at 8 o'clock in the Court House. Dr. O. W. Snow will soon have his ofiice. in the Smith block north of the Co-op store, ready for business. busi-ness. How about May Day in Brigham? Brig-ham? A big, harmonious city demonstration should be gotten up about the middle of the month. R. K. Wilson is spending considerable con-siderable money improving the appearance ap-pearance of his premises on the corner of Main and North streets. The electric light wires were extended ex-tended two blocks farther south on Main street and the lights placed in the residence of Recorder Graehl, Wednesday afternoon. People who have been breaking the law by catching fish in Box Elder Creek had better "look a little lit-tle out." The Sheriff is after just such fellows hot and heavy. Mayor Jensen's big barn is about completed. Shade trees are being planted about the premises, and the place presents a much more attractive appearance. Improvement Improve-ment is the word. Geo. W. De Witt, the young man who had several of his fingers cut oft" at the depot a short time ago by falling under the train, left for Soda Springs, yesterday morning. Dr. Wade brought him around all right. We received a circular this week from the Utah Wool-Growers' Association, Asso-ciation, warning all sheepmen against selling their wool to the "Six ! Brothers" Commission House of St. Louis, as several wool-growers had been taken in by them. There are a surprisingly large number of handsome carriage teams coming to the front in Brigham. Several may be seen dashing about the streets almost any hour of the day of late. It looks a la metropolitan. When Mrs. L. Snow, Jr., returned home f rom a visit down town, Thursday, she was most happily surprised on finding a handsome new side board in place in their commodious residence. Of course, Mr. Snow was the donor. There is talk of the U. & N. building a branch road into North Ogden. probably that is to head off the Denver & Rio Grande. Hope thev won't succeed. They surely can't, if pluck, grit and go ahead-itiveness are any good. Some rather "tough" medical circulars cir-culars were distributed on the street one day this week. They were given promiscuously to little boys and girls. The reading matter was of a character far from being appropriate for the youthful mind. The management of the Opera House is to be congratuled on hav- ing secured so good a Company as j the Fisk Jubilee Singers. They ! appear next Friday. It is to be I hoped they will have a crowded house. The Detroit Free Press says: "They have no competitors, and they can have no successors." f j The initial number of the Mining Ayr, published weekly at Denver, Salt Lake and San Francisco, has i reached our table. Its object is to represent the mining interests of the entire broad, expansive West. , W. E. Sinvthe is the Editor, and he has gotten out a handsome sheet, sure. It is a credit to its great 'calling. |
