Show THE COUNTY COURT. A Busy Day The New Judge Various Petitions and Reports. The County Court met April IS. Present, Judges E. P. Johnson and 10. B. Kirk; also, Selectmen R. H. Liaty and K. 0. Wiicox. There being no unfinished business busi-ness to consider. Judge Johnson stated that Judge E. II. Kirk, who had been appointed to succeed him as Probate Judge of Box Elder county, was present, lie had filed his bond and was now eligible to act. After thanking the members of the Court for past courtesies extended and wishing Mr. Kirk success in his oflicial career, lie vacated the chair. Judge Kirk took the chair, after which the following fol-lowing routine business was trans-i trans-i ac t cd : The County Clerk made a report, on county taxable property, which was accepted. It showed that the Collector is debted with $-14,002.7'.) taxes, divided as follows: Territorial, S,000.o0; school, $1-2,000.75; county taxes, $1 2,000.75; poor taxes, A ,000.21!; county school. ifS.0OU.34. J. W. Guthrie and !3b' others of the Malad precinct and James Ryan and 24 others of Bear River Precinct, by petition, asked that the road leading from Bear Hirer City to Corinne he located on the range line between range two and three west. Action will be taken April 20th. G. W. It ice stated that the Salt Creek bridge was nearly completed. complet-ed. $150 was ordered paid for work. Deferred. Report on the Surveyor's instrument instru-ment rejected. Several applications for leasing school lands were made, but not filed. No rules or regulations governing the lease of school lands have yet been prepared by the Court. H. II. Cnrdun, Constable of Wil-lard, Wil-lard, asked that estray pound be repaired. Action deferred until new law on this matter is printed. Selectman Wilcox was instructed to have road near Wm. Sheen's widened. The Clerk was authorized to pay all notes as they fall duo and negotiate ne-gotiate for new loans. |
