Show Area Obituaries Wallace Earl Tebbs r - . i V . 'v 3 i' 4 ; ' f 1 1 L ST. GEORGE - Wallace Earl Tebbs, 73, passed away on Jan. 14, 2002 in St. George. He was born on Mar. 19, 1928, the fourth child of five born to Earl C. and Eva Malinda Proctor Tebbs in Panguitch. He married his high school sweetheart, Lucille Dowdell, June 25, 1948. The marriage was later solemnized solem-nized in the St. George Temple on June 18, 1966. They were sweethearts for 53 years. Wallace and Lucille moved to California where he worked for , North American Aviation. In 1950 he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio, Tex., Topeka, Kan., Witchita Falls, Tex., Rantoul, 111., and Las Vegas, Nev. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force and remained at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas as an Instrument Technician until his retirement in 1973. In 1982, he and Lucille returned to Utah (St. George). Over the years Wallace spent his time building homes and apartments, but his real enjoyment was spent on his ranch, Little Valleys in southern Utah. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved riding his horses in the mountains of Nevada and Utah. Wallace was a member of the Back Country Horsemen and Ridge Riders organizations. Wallace was a member of the LDS church where he held several sev-eral positions throughout his ( Wallace Tebbs life. During the past ten years Wallace was a High Priest in Bloomington 3rd Ward, where he served as Welfare Farm Coordinator, and served with his wife on the Genealogical Extraction Program. He will be remembered as an honest and loving man with a delightfully unexpected sense of humor. He was salt of the earth strong yet a gentle and sweet man whose concern was always for others. Wallace was loved well and deeply by friends and family, and respected and admired by anyone with whom he came into contact. Wallace is survived and dearly dear-ly loved by his wife, Lucille; children: Vickie (Gordon) Walker, Las Vegas, and Michael (Nancy) Tebbs, Layton; grandchildren: grand-children: Erin (Marc) Dudley, Eamon (Jessie) Springall, both of Las Vegas, Kelsey Tebbs, and Jason Tebbs; great-grandchild, Ethan Dudley; brothers: Merlin E. (Billie) Tebbs, St. George and Clark J. (Sharon) Tebbs, Orem; sisters, Shirley (Carvel, deceased) Henrie, Panguitch and Lois (George) Kenney, St. George. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 18 in St. George Blvd. Interment was at Panguitch City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary. James Edmon Anthony PANGUITCH - Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather grand-father and brother, James Edmon "Jim" Anthony, age 81, died Jan. 20, 2002 in Panguitch of complications from cancer. He was born Aug. 23, 1920 in Walker County, Ala., a son of James Edmon and Ollie Parker Anthony. He married Velma Virginia Tarner, Dec. 8, 1943 in Washington, D.C. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. Jim enjoyed golfing golf-ing and he loved to fish. He was recently interviewed by Channel 2 News at the Fishing Derby at Lake Powell, where he participated. He is survived by his wife of Panguitch; daughter Donna Leigh Washburn of Elsinore, Calif; five grandchildren: Danny Drummond, David Drummond, Deana Drummond, Jimmy Washburn and Jerry Washburn; three great-grandchildren: Skyler, Shane and Shanna; two brothers and one sister: Thomas Anthony of Panguitch; Flavous Lee Anthony of Oklahoma and Ethelyne Kimberly of California; many loving nieces - . Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002 in Panguitch with Pastor David H. Payne of the New Beginning Baptist Church in Panguitch officiating. Burial was in the Panguitch City Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina Lincoln Lyman ESCALANTE - Lincoln Lyman, 66, of Escalante, passed away Jan. 22, 2002, at the LDS. Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was born Feb. 12, 1935, in Boulder, to Francis Marion and Hazel Mae Snow Lyman. He married Rolain Alvey, Aug. 10, 1953, in Las Vegas, Nev. They later divorced. Together, they had six children: Ruth Lane, Danna, Lincoln Wade, Faye, Tyler and Gwen. He married Alice Ann Christiansen in Las Vegas, Nev. Their children were Richard, Kim and Gaden. Lincoln's love in life was to work. He spent his early days working with his brother Truman at the sawmill. He worked in the uranium field during dur-ing the uranium boom. Lincoln built many of the local roads while working for the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest and oil exploration companies. He started out with a D-6 Cat which eventually grew into Lincoln Lyman Construction. He was always the happiest when he was working and visit-. visit-. ing with friends and family. He is survived his wife, Alice Ann; children, Danna (Darrell) Alvey, Cedar City; Faye Lyman; Tyler (Lisa) Lyman; Gwen (Don) Porter; Richard (Deborah) (Debor-ah) Lyman, all of Escalante; Kim (Renee) Lyman, St. George; sisters and brother, Edith Isaacson, Salt Lake City; Opal (John) Spencer, Spring-ville; Spring-ville; Dale (Lillian) Lyman, Escalante; Loya twin (Glen) Gubler, St. George; sister-in-law, Dorothy Lyman, Oregon; and 21 grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; children: Ruth Lane, Lincoln Wade, and Gaden; brothers: Truman Lyman, Conrad Lyman, Kirk Lyman and Ivan Lyman; sisters: LaRue Wentworth, Olive Lyman, Yvonne Lyman. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. Thomas Dudley Spencer ESCALANTE - Thomas Dudley (TD) Spencer of Boise, Ida. and Escalante, passed away Jan. 7, 2002 at the age of 87 at his home in Redding, Calif. Thomas Dudley was born may 19, 1914 in Escalante, the sixth of eight children born to Thomas Spencer and Polly Ann (Deuel) Spencer. He spent his childhood in Escalante and attended college in Cedar City and Logan. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer, retiring from Meadow Gold Dairies in 1977. On May 23, 1941, he married his childhood sweetheart, sweet-heart, LaPreal Peterson in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had two children, Donald and Lois. They were inseparable insepara-ble companions for 40 years. LaPreal passed away in Jan. 1989. In Nov. 1989, Thomas married mar-ried Hazel Estelle Sanborn of Escalante. They enjoyed 1 1 loving lov-ing years together. Much of their time was spent traveling and enjoying their children and grandchildren. Hazel Passed away in December 2000. In June 2001, the family was happy to find that he had eloped with childhood friend gay Lenwell of Redding, Calif. She was a faithful and devoted companion, com-panion, and made the last months of life immeasurably happier. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, LaPreal (Peterson) Spencer; his second wife, Hazel (Sanborn) Spencer; his brothers, Floyd, Ushur and Courtney; his sisters, Thora and Berdene, and a son-in-law, Mike -Roos. He is survived by his wife Gay (Lenwell) Spencer; his sister, Eva (Spencer) Haws, his son and daughter-in-law Donald and Marilyn (Wheelwright) Spencer, and his daughter, Lois (Spencer) Roos; ten grandchildren; grandchil-dren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held on Jan. 11 in Boise, Ida. and were conducted by Brother Cecil W. Grow. The family prayer was offered by J.C. Haws and the invocation was offered by Floyd Munson. A life sketch was given by . Shelly Harshman and Holley Rademacher sang "Be Still My Soul," accompanied by Brady Gamble. Fay Messinger was a speaker and Holley Rademacher sang "O My Father, " accompanied by Brady Gamble. Closing remarks were made by Cecil W. Grow and the benediction bene-diction was offered by Frank Venuti. Casket bearers were Brian Spencer, Carl Earrus, Jonathan Roos, Richard Christensen, Eric Harshman, and Ryan Morgan. Interment was at the Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise, Ida and the dedication of the grave was offered by Donald Spencer. |
