Show Panguitch Bobcat Boys Shine The Panguitch boys basketball basket-ball team knocked off long time rival Tabiona on Saturday night in Panguitch 68-51. Tabiona was undefeated on the season, but the Bobcats ripped out to a 41-23 first half lead and were really never threatened ' in the second half. Acey Burningham continued his impressive ability to get all the players on his team involved. He ignited for 20 -points. Adam Howard drained 15 in the first half and closed with 19 for the Bobcats while junior Casey Christensen scored 11. Brett Sawyer, Devin Englestead, Landon Fullmer and Jason dlaton also played major roles in shutting down the high flying Tabby Tigers. The PHS boys now await the valley Buffs in Panguitch this Friday. It should be a great one. Bryce Valley actually led the number-one-ranked Valley Buffaloes, but eventually lost 55-43. The Mustangs continue to play some very fine basketball, basket-ball, the second helf they lost some momentum and that is a killer again a team like Jim Hoyt's. David Mathews scored 18 and Levi LeFevre 12 for the Mustangs. Bryce Valley was nipped at the end Saturday night by Salt Lake Lutheran by a score of 45-43. 45-43. This was one of those games where the better team lost. The Mustangs offense did not show up as well as it has been. LeFevre poured in 17 to lead the way,, while Kytlin Chynoweth scored 10 for BV. Escalante got bumped by Wayne, losing 63-53. To the Moquis credit, they .played well in this game. The Badgers are a good team. Nathan Lyman. continued con-tinued his double-figure scoring and finished with 17,while consistent con-sistent teammate Lucas Schulkoski bit for 16. Escalante's boys came on strong Saturday night to topply west Desert 63-57. This was truly a gallant victory for the Moquis in a game they could have given up on. Many contributed con-tributed to this team win. Top scorers were Travis Steed with 17, Schulkoski 10, Devin Shakespear 10 and Lyman 10. Congratulations on this win to the team and to Coach Cottam and Coach Brinkerhoff. |
