Show UHP Honors Employees RICHFIELD On Dec. 21, 2001, employees of the Utah Highway Patrol, Section 10, held their annual Awards Banquet in Richfield. District A, B, and C Outstanding Trooper of the Year Awards went to Trooper Kevin Bradshaw, Trooper Paul Bailey, and Trooper Matt Cluff, respectively. respec-tively. Trooper Cluff was also awarded the Section 10 Outstanding DUI Enforcement Award. Trooper Nate Giles was awarded the Section 10 Outstanding Trooper of the Year Award and Senior Trooper Terry Smith was awarded the Above and Beyond Award. Trooper Bradshaw was nominated nomi-nated by his supervisor, Sgt. Chet Johnson, for the overall exceptional job he does. "Kevin is a member of the Honor Guard and keeps himself in good physical phys-ical condition. He always looks sharp, keeping his uniform in tip-top condition. Kevin has a good attitude toward the department," depart-ment," stated Sgt. Johnson. Bradshaw has also completed his Advanced Officer certification, certifica-tion, a requirement for the Senior Trooper position which he hopes to acquire. He has been with the UHP for ten years and is stationed in Sanpete County. Trooper Paul Bailey was nominated by his supervisor, Sgt. Thayne Carlisle, for his aggressive DUI enforcement, his overall total enforcement efforts, and his excellent work in community relations. Trooper Bailey often works late shifts to concentrate on apprehending impaired drivers. He is very aggressive in DUI enforcement and also leads the District in arrests since moving from Panguitch to Sanpete County. Trooper Bailey has been with the UHP since 1996. Sgt. Roger Cutler nominated Trooper Matt Cluff for the District C Outstanding Trooper Award for his overall enforcement enforce-ment efforts and community i i relations. Trooper Cluff, a six-year six-year veteran is assigned to the Kane County area. In addition to his regular duties, Trooper Cluff is actively involved in organizing and holding public safety events within the District. Trooper Cluff was also awarded the Section 10 Outstanding DUI Enforcement Award for arresting the most impaired drivers during 2001. He also received this award for the previous year. Trooper Nate Giles was awarded the Section 10 Outstanding Trooper Award. He was nominated by Sgt. Cutler for his professional representation representa-tion of the Department of Public Safety, Utah Highway Patrol and for his work with allied agencies in Page, Ariz. Trooper Giles lives in Page and has worked hard to develop excellent excel-lent inter-agency relationships. He has been with the UHP for two years. Senior Trooper Terry Smith received the Section 10 Above and Beyond Award for his work in Public Information and Education and child-passenger safety. Senior Trooper Smith has become a Certified Safety Seat Technician Instructor and diligently works with other agencies throughout the state to increase the correct use of child-safety child-safety seats, organizing and participating par-ticipating in checkpoints designed to correct misuses of safety seats and to educate parents par-ents on the proper installation of their child safety seats. Senior Trooper Terry Smith is a 22 year veteran of the Utah Highway Patrol. |
