Show CMmOtJVILLE tmivs By Marva Fletcher 679- 8561 The new Grand Staircase-Escalante Staircase-Escalante National Monument Visitor Center is progressing. They are now putting the shingles shin-gles on the roof. Glenna Fletcher, Anita Fletcher and Pamela Gajordo picked up Joyce Johnson in Panguitch and they went to LaVerkin to attend the funeral of their uncle, Arthur G. Wilcock. They enjoyed their visit with the family and friends of this wonderful won-derful man. He grew up in Panguitch, the son of James and Annie Wilcock. Joe and Rae Hughes attended funeral services for Shirley Hughes in St. George on Saturday and stayed at the home of their grandson Joe and wife Aloha Mathews. They extended their stay until Tuesday so Joe could do some LDS temple sessions ses-sions and a sealing session where he was sealed for 47 men's names. The LDS missionary dinner on Saturday night was very successful suc-cessful with a big crowd in attendance. With a congregation of 222 people in attendance, a beautiful LDS missionary farewell testimonial testi-monial was held for Cole Twitchell on Sunday. Talks were given by his sister Deysha, and brothers Jory, Kam and Britt. A vocal solo, "Greater Love," was beautifully sung by Kate Griffin, accompanied by her mother Doneen Griffin. After, Cole's mother Rita Twitchell spoke, followed by his father LaMonte and Cole followed fol-lowed his parents. President Cottam gave the closing remarks. The family and extended family and many out-of-town friends were served a lovely dinner following the meetings. Cole s parents took him to the Missionary Training Center and he will serve in the California San Fernando mission. mis-sion. Last Wednesday, Jim and Erma Clarke attended LDS Enrichment night in Escalante and Jim talked about temples and sacred ordinances to the group. Erica Racker has moved here from St. George and will live with her parents, Alma and Anita Fletcher for the present time. In a beautiful wedding ceremony cere-mony at Ruby's Inn, Kalena Gary became the bride of Jason Lagasse. The ceremony was performed by our newly elected mayor, Alma Fletcher, with about 50 family and friends in attendance to wish them well.. Bishop Joey Comp gave them some good advice. Danny and Linda Britt are the bride's parents; par-ents; Alan and Kiersten hansen stock are the parents of the groom; Gerald and Dawn Stock are his grandparents and Arma Stock is his great-grandmother. Cookie and Mike Riffel and Kalena's grandparents. The couple will make their home in Cedar City. Our congratulations and best wishes to them both. Clarence Davis came from Cedar City and visited on Sunday with his sister and brother-in-law Dawn and Gerald Stock. They all gathered at the home of Jeff and Jan Stock and his mother, arma Stock, joined them for a birthday dinner and celebration to honor Jan on her birthday. Clarence had made a beautiful clock which they presented pre-sented to her as a special gift. We were glad to see Greg and Sabrina Hughes and their family here on Sunday for the LDS missionary farewell for Cole Twitchell. Also, Cole's grandmother grand-mother Connie Kleese was here. |
