Show Escalante News by Marlene Haws 826-4859 Dan and Lois Spencer had their kids here from Mesquite, Nev. Judy Green, Audrey Marshall Mar-shall and Chris Jensen and eleven children between them visited. Theron Jensen stopped over one night on his way to Idaho, where he has bought some property near Preston Vickie Schulkoski and Garneal Smith just returned from Idaho. Vickie visited with her parents there and Garneal with her daughter and son-in-law, Vida and Dee Frost. Thirty-five members of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers enjoyed en-joyed their monthly summer camp-out on the mountain, near Roundy Reservoir. Bill and Clorene Vidrine have been touring with their family again. This time, they went with Marty and Debbie Vidrine, River-ton River-ton and Annette Knudson, St. George. They visited the Grand Canyon and attended the performance per-formance of "Utah" at the Tuacahn Theatre in St. George. Maurine Nelson and family, Woods Cross, have been visiting at the home of Maurine's mother, Nelda Munson. They were able to meet the newly adopted cousins, cous-ins, from Russia, at the home of Reed and Karen Munson. Cute kids! Wayne and Maurine Dean, California and Elwood Willis, Glenwood, Calif, visited for a day or two with their brother, Blaine Willis. Klyn and Marlene Haws had most of their family home over the weekend. Robert and Goldie Haws, Kelly, Terrilee and Justin Haws and Justin's girlfriend, Tasha Radokovich, all of Loma (See Escalante News On Page 3-A) -" Escglqntg News From Page 2-A Colo.; Jon and Jillyn Sorensen, Alan and Devyn Sorensen and Brandon Haws, all of Salina and the family, of Brent and Patrice Cottam, Escalante all visited. Rick and Randie Haws were here last month and were unable to come again this soon. They live in Tolleson, Ariz. If Labor Day is a holiday, what would you call all these other work days? At this writing, lots of people are heading to the hills early to get their favorite camping spot for fishing, recreating recreat-ing or bow hunting and "labor" is the farthest thing from their minds. Then there are others who are in the process of making a big move in their lives. Marlow and Christa Schow are in the process of making a house swap with Blaine Willis. The Schows bought the home of Nelda and the late Ivan Willis and moved into it last Friday. Blaine bought the home of Marlow and Christa and moved into it that same day. Hope they got everything every-thing straight.! Wayne and Maur-ine Maur-ine Dean, California; Lynn and Garna Mclnelly, Beaver; Elwood and Vonda Willis, Glenwood and Lowell Willis came from up north to help Blaine with his move. Garna was helping him to get settled in. After coming to Escalante every summer for over 50 years, Lester Mendell sold his home before returning home to California. Califor-nia. When asked if he would be back next summer he replied "When you reach the age of 92 you don't plan that far ahead!" Brian Tyrell Dutton, tiny infant in-fant son of Brian and Kimberly Dutton, was transported by ambulance, ambu-lance, last Wednesday, to the Panguitch hospital. He was experiencing expe-riencing breathing problems and was later transferred to an ICU unit in Cedar City. Dustin Griffin decided to join his cousin, Chris Cronin, for classes at the trade tech in Richfield. Rich-field. Then Chris transferred to Southern Utah University in Cedar Ce-dar City. Chris and his wife, Tiffany (Reynolds) Cronin recently visited vis-ited their parents, the Junior and Debra Cronins and Lance and Barbara Jaggar, here in town. Chris bas been working for the Forest Service in Richfield this summer. Sondra Stracener, Lehi, visited vis-ited her mother, Velma Boulter, over the weekend. Traveling with her was LaVee Wiscombe, Mapleton who visited her mother, Fay Alvey. Dave and Raylene Whitefield came from Las Vegas, Nev. and took their daughter, Jessica and Mike Dube, son of Andy and Denise Dube, home after a two week vacation with the grandparents, grandpar-ents, Arnold and Deon Alvey. Mike thought this was "some place". The Dairy Queen was just down the street and there were parks you don't even have to pay to get into. Enjoy it while you can, Mike it may not always be that way! Ron and Linda Mecham, Chris, Stephanie and Rachel Cop-lin Cop-lin and Malinda and Colby Mecham came from Las Vegas, Nev. again to check on their mother and grandmother, Fontella Mecham, who is still in Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch. Fontella is improving all the time and looking forward to coming home soon. Dr. Warren Woolsey and wife Kathleen, Cedar City visited at "the home of Kathleen's mother, Thelma Marsh. Sorry we missed them. We wanted to see if they have changed any since they are getting their share of grandchildren grandchil-dren now! Quite a few people went from the two LDS wards in Escalante to a Stake High Priests party in Tropic last Friday. Wanless Alvey, Bill and Clorene Vidrine and Rolain Alvey went from here to Payson for the funeral of Philo Alvey. Philo and Wanless are brothers. Our condolences condo-lences to the Alvey family. Rose Bailey put in her last day at the bank and Linda Carter was hired to take her place. Good luck to both of them. Maybe Rose can get McKay to take her on a cruise or a trip of some kind now. And if you can, Rose, some of us would like a page out of your "How To" book! Yukon Norman is home from the hospital after suffering an allergic al-lergic reaction to a bee sting. Melvin Brooks drove Arlis and Melba Brooks to Colorado for a visit with two of Arlis' sisters. They had a good time and are home again. Wells and Emma Lou Mclnelly, Ellensburg, Wash, came as far as Richfield for the Cowles reunion, then came on down here to visit with Wells' mother Twila Mclnelly. Twila seems to be doing better since having surgery. Kent and Phyllis Mclnelly, Panguitch also went to the funeral of Philo Alvey in Payson. Philo is Phyllis' father. Many friends and relatives attended at-tended the wedding of Heather Smith and Dallas Larsen on Friday, Fri-day, Aug. 22. Heather is the daughter of Jim and Margo Smith and the granddaughter of Pratt and Areola Gates and Jim and Rae Smith, Henrieville. Dallas is the son of Dean and Leona Larsen, Lar-sen, Farmington, New Mexico. They tell me Al Barlow has been having his eyes fixed! He went to the same doctor Fay Alvey and LaRue Spencer went to, in Panguitch, to have a cataract cata-ract removed. I hope they gave you guys a group rate and that you will all see things more clearly now! I wouldn't have dared to say that when Al was the Justice of the Peace! |
