Show Tropic News ByLouise Ott 679-8776 On Aug 16, the George and Louisa Stewart Bybee family had their reunion at the town park with many in attendance. Triessa Ramsay and Paul Shakespear spent a week at Freedom Free-dom Academy at Camp Williams. This was a leadership course sponsored by the National Guard. They enjoyed the week driving hammers, graders and other equipment, also shot guns, and learned to rapell. Paul tried this upside down! They wished they could have stayed longer. Taylor Ramsay, daughter of the Wade Ramsays of Monroe stayed with Clare and Mary Lee Ramsay. She got to see that darling dar-ling cousin, Jayce Shakespear, daughter of Dennis and Brenda Shakespear, in Kanab. Faye and DeVar Pollock were in Salt Lake City to see grandson Kevin Chamberlain off on his mission. They brought Linda Martin's stepson Shon Martin back with them for a visit. He is enjoying time at the park shooting basketball and other things with his grandparents. Beverly and Russell Wright visited with daughter JoNeil Alvey and brought some Hurricane Hurri-cane peaches to can. They also visited with RaVae Pollock and Ferriland Ruesch. Wallace Ott had surgery in St. George, is home and reports that he was interviewed by a writer out of Denver, Colo, about his experience with Butch Cassidy. The article came out in the Wild West magazine and although it is published in Virginia, it is sold mostly in the western states. Mabel Michaelson came to Tropic to get Sara Littlefield as the two of them were going on to Farmington for a baby shower for Lesa and Brady Alfred, daughter of Steven and Nancy Littlefield. Along with Nancy, Mabel and Sara flew to Washington D.C. to meet up with Steve, then go on a cruise in Alaska. Sara assured us that she would not jump overboard. over-board. She will have a good time and a lot to share when she gets home. Stanley and Louise Ott flew from Salt Lake City to St Louis, Mo. where they spent six glorious days spoiling three grandchildren. Son and daughter-in-law Richard and Julie Ott took them to see the pageant of the "City of Joseph." They then flew back to Salt Lake City and stayed with their oldest daughter Clara Arse for some fun shopping with the grandkids. The Pollock family held their reunion at the Tropic Town Park this past weekend. Shirley Haycock Hay-cock and her family were in charge of it and Shirley reported about 80 people in attendance. All had a fantastic time. Rick and Renon Bybee went to St. George on business. Carma Barton spent a week in Circleville with her daughter, Connie Heaps and Connie's twin daughters. T.J. and Sheila Johnson are the proud parents of a new born son, bom on Aug. 8 in Cedar City. They have moved to Philadelphia, Philadel-phia, Penn., where T.J. will be attending school. Elaine Haas had the privilege of tending her granddaughter Sierra Si-erra while Sierra's parents, Tim and Chrishel Leach, are spending time in CanCun, Mexico. Tonya Syrettt and her sister Nancy Chynoweth took their mother, Gloria Clark to Salt Lake City to see her brother, LeGrande Johnson. Shauna Anderson took her mother Jean Syrett to St. George for a check-up. Glad to hear you are improving, Jean! The Escalante LDS Stake High Priests held their party in Tropic on Aug. 22. There was lots of good food. Not many from Tropic attended, but some came from Cannonville, Henrieville and Escalante. The descendents of Herman and Zora Bell Pollock were here in town for a reunion. Olene and Dale LeFevre of Ellensburg, Wash! were here, along with many brothers. Nyle and Merle Richards spent some time in Loa with fam- ay. (See Tropic News On Page 4-A) Tropic News From Page 2-A aunts in attendance including Donna Chynoweth of Escalante, Rosie Hunt of Beaver, and cousins cous-ins Melinda and Rob Dotson of Cedar City. Scott and Jennifer Mecham and family from Santa Clara visited vis-ited with Lowell and Margaret Mecham. Scott participated in the Rim Run at Ruby's Inn and came in 5th place in his age group. The decendents of Joseph and Mabel Ott held their reunion at Tropic Town Park on Aug. 23. They helped Stan Ott celebrate his 72 birthday, also. There were 36 in attendance, including Joe and Ann Ott, and True and Joan Ott and families of Cedar City. Rhett Wintch and two sons Brycen and Nathan visited with Kent and Betty Wintch. Rhett is from Panaca, Nev. Betty said that Rhett and his sons accomplished accom-plished a lot that needed to be done and she and Kent were mighty thankful for all they did. Kent and Betty also attended the wedding of tehir granddaughter Kimberly Wintch to Jimmy Bond in Caliente, Nev. Visiting with Bret and Sharon Syrett was Sharon's mother, Evelyn Eve-lyn Nunhley of Grantsville. She sure enjoyed her granddaughter Michelle. Visiting with Larvin and Eva Pollock from Page, Ariz, was Ron and Madalyn Ames, along with Madalyn's sisters, Marion Gull from West Valley City and Claudia Larson from Burbank, Calif. Larvin and Eva went to Salt Lake City to attend a wedding wed-ding reception for Eva's grand neice, Rhona Ames. She and her new husband Stacy Windhorst will reside in Louisville, Ky. Bill Pollock spent some time here visiting his parents and enjoying en-joying several days of fishing with his father, Larvin Pollock. On the way home from Salt Lake City, Larvin and Eva stayed with Bill and wife Stacy Pollock. They were able to go to the Manti LDS Temple with them and grandson Bill, so that he could receive his endowments for his LDS mission to Winnepeg, Canada. He will enter the Missionary Training Center on Oct. 1. Price and Darlene Allred were in town visiting friends on their way to a wedding in Salt Lake City. |
