Jarold Simons received the District Dis-trict Award of Merit and Quay Simons Si-mons received the District's Second Milcr Award. Both men earned their Eagle Scout awards as youth when they were members of Explorer Post 78 in Spanish Fork. Both received their Duty to God award and have been active in the LDS Church and active adult scoutcrs. Jarold Simons' adult scout service ser-vice began in San Diego 6th Ward in 1973 as Scoutmaster. In Orem, he again served as scoutmaster, from 1976 to 1981. In Colorado Springs, Colo., he served as Varsity Var-sity Scout coach from 1981 to 1983, and in Aurora, Colo., as Troop Committee Chairman from 1983 to 1987. In Escalante, he served as scoutmaster from 1987 to the present. Quay Simons' adult Scout service began in Las Vegas as Scout Committee chairman, Cub Scout chairman and Stake Varsity Scout chairman from 1970 to 1979. His Scout service in Escalante has been as cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Scout and Cub Committee, and Varsity leader from 1979 to 1989. The Powell Point District is made up of Boulder, Escalante, Hcnricvillc, Cannonville and 'Tropic. It is part of the National : Parks Council which takes in all scouting south of Provo. |
