Show Noxious Weed Plan Approved A Decision Notice has been approved ap-proved by Forest Supervisor, Hugh C. Thompson, regarding an Environmental Envi-ronmental Assessment for noxious weed control on the Powell Ranger District, Dixie National Forest The proposed Noxious Weed Control Plan adopts an alternative of Integrated Pest Management. Treatment techniques considered in this alternative include biological (insects, competing vegetation), herbicides, manual, mechanical and no treatment. Prevention of conditions condi-tions which cause invasion of sites by various weeds is also an element of this alternative providing a positive step toward reducing future treatment costs. Approximately 35 acres of noxious weeds will be treated on the Powell Ranger District Dis-trict in 1989. The Environmental Assessment may be reviewed at the Dixie National Na-tional Forest Supervisor's Office in Cedar City or the Powell Ranger District Office in Panguitch. |
