There were no winning entries n Ik J from Panguitch High School. e' At Escalante Elementary, first ms place was won by Candace Barney, see First place winner is Frank Burningham, right; Trevor Pollock, third, and Angela Torgerson, third. second by Gaylynn Becenti, and third by Garrett Cottam. At Escalante Es-calante Middle School, Rachel Carter took first, Michael Aaron Simons took second and Jaime Griffin took third. There were no winning entries from Escalante High School. For Bryce Valley Elementary, Cherlynn Twitchell was the first place winner, Sydney Syrett was second, and Keith Johnson was third. At Bryce Valley Middle School, Michael Ahlstrom placed second and Trish Chyoweth third. Rachael Thompson captured second place and Kcnyon Piatt third at Bryce Valley High School. Second place winners at each school received $10 each and third place winners $7.50. In all, some 300 entries were received re-ceived in the annual contest designed de-signed to stimulate the young pco- pie to think through a subject and express it clearly and convincingly in essay form. Local Farm Bureau president Lowell V. Henrie Jr. expressed appreciation ap-preciation to local schools for carrying out the contest |
