Show Escalante Events Marilyn Jackson The Tom Jackson family joined his parents, Mr and Mrs. Reed Jackson at Torrey then traveled to Hite Marina for a week of fishing on Lake Powell. They arrived home in time to greet Tom's aunts, Joy Clarke of Manti and Ina Squire of Ephraim with members of the family. Dr. and Mrs. Mac Winkle and Elaine Smith stayed a few days with Gail Bailey. The Blake Schows spent the week fishing and remodeling the old Shurtz home. Mr. and Mrs. Reldon Sprdke visited at the Cook Liston home. A new doublewide home arrived for Mr. and Mrs. Butch Olsen and is parked beside the Country-Thirst-Buster-Saloon. Carin Blake joined members of her family in Parowan for graduation exercises. Daughter, Carrie Ann Humpheries was one of 10 receiving honors. A baby daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Cowles in Casper, Wy. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Cowles are grandparents and Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Cowles great-grandparents, all of Escalante. An open house was held for Naomi Bolton, who is retiring from the Kazan Clinic. Dawn Randall spent several days at home with her family. She is convalescing from a recent kidney transplant. The weekend of July 25 and 26 will be festivities in Escalante. An all-high-school reunion is planned in conjunction with the annual Pioneer Day celebration. Anyone who attended at-tended Escalante High School is invited to join the Friday activities, too. Plans for the big 24th of July homecoming parade in Escalante are getting under way. The theme is "Pioneers today and yesterday". Craig Coleman, son of Beth Coleman and the late Rotas Coleman has completed one year of two, in a refrigeration and air-conditioning air-conditioning course and received special recognitioni and congratulations from Utah Technical College for attaining high honor status winter quarter. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Lemming had as visitors, Gathea Loefler from Moses Lake, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Porter, Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas, Fontana, Calif, and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tucker of San Diego, Calif. Former residents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Atwood were in town. Thais Griffin joined son, Brent in Cedar City for the graduation of Brent's wife, Kathy. DeAnn Coleman returned to Great Falls, Mont, with sister, Sherree Rechtsteiner. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Christensen, and Mohr Christensen went to Kaysville for the funerai services of Julia Barnes. Kenny Barker was near the saw-sharpening saw-sharpening machine at the sawmill when he fell, cutting his upper arm. He was taken to Garfield Memorial Hospital for stitches. The stake Father and Son outing was held at Pine Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Bob McMurtrey and Kay McMurtrey visited the Bob Mitchells on their way to Las Vegas and Disneyland. Kevin Porter was here while Mr. and Mrs. Vergean Porter visited brother, Merrill in Mesa, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lane Liston have a baby daughter Sharla. Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wes Shreeve of St. Johns, Ariz, came for the event. Mr. and Mrs. Lane Liston are grandparents and Mr. and Mrs. StarnsMecham.great- grandparents. |
