Show - Tropic Topics - Ella Adair Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Mecham visited with their father Malen Mecham and other Mecham family members. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Chynoweth, Kanab and daughters Jennifer and Jamie spent a few days this past week in Tropic getting their home repaired and visiting with the Jack Chynoweths and with daughter Crissy. Kathryn Henry was baptized into the LDS church and is now a member of the Tropic ward. A missionary dinner was held for Sean Stewart soon to leave for an LDS mission to Japan. Douglas Stoker and father visited with friends in Tropic. Doug is a former coach at Bryce Valley High School. Eva Pollock and Pauline Pollock made a trip to Orem to get acquainted with a new granddaughter grand-daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Blake Allen. The proud mother is the former Marina Pollock. Marian Shakespear has a new grandson born to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Shakespear in Tremonton. The Ronald Littlefields have moved to Tropic for the summer. The Charley Franciscos had daughter Helena home for the weekend. She took her two sons back to Beaver with her; they had spent a week with their grandparents. A special youth activity was held Tuesday evening at which time cake baking contests, using bake ovens were held. Some very unusual cakes were made during the contests between the boys and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Pollock accompanied by son Gale, are visiting sons Sam, Jeff and Cray. They are going on to Ellensburg, Wash, where they will be joined by Olene Pollock and Dale Pollock and then continued on to Vancouver, Canada to take in Expo '86 before coming home. Speakers in sacrament meeting were Joey Stewart, Brady Syrett and Tracy Feltner as youth speakers. Kay Mangum and David Pollock, scout master, were also speakers. Margaret Mecham and Ella Adair attended a Garfield County Council on Aging meeting held at Panguitch Lake Monday, at the Verd Worthen cabin. Ora Brinkerhoff accompanied Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Shakespear to California over the weekend, to visit with their son Darrell, stationed with the Army. While there they witnessed him being ordained an elder in the LDS church. Flora LeFevre received word that she is the great-grandmother of twin baby girls, born to Mr. and Mrs. Willis LeFevre. The proud grandparents grand-parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ellis LeFevre. She also learned that their son Evan has received a mission call to the Tempe, Ariz, mission. Mr. and Mrs. Clem Johnson visited with friends in Tropic. Violet Littlefield and Christine Littlefield were in St. George for Violet to have a medical checkup. Truie Allen was also in St. George for a medical checkup. Truie visited son John and family while there. Scott Barton and Marie Barton visited with the Berdell Bartons. Orvilla Shakespear and Sara Lou Sudweeks made a trip to St. George to take Sara Lou's mother and sister home. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar LeFevre, Mr. and Mrs. Reed LeFevre and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pollock and Mr. and Mrs. Layne LeFevre were in Page, Ariz, for the missionary farewell for Lareen LeFevre, son of Mr. and Mrs. John LeFevre. He will serve in the Los Angeles, Spanish-speaking mission. Olva Munson and Steve Malloy were recently married in Panguitch. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Don Pollock and children spent Sunday with the Herman Pollocks. Their son will leave soon for an assignment with the U.S. Army. It was interesting to note that at the graduation exercises held at Cedar City High School six of the graduate's parents and graduates of the Bryce Valley High School. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar LeFevre, Ella Bybee and Virginia B. Johnson were in Richfield, passengers in the senior citizen van. Marian Shakespear enjoyed a weekend visit from her son Dean and family from Herriman. Mr. and Mrs. Norm Littlefield attended a golden wedding open house in Boulder. |
