Show PlanningZoning Plan Nearing in Escalante ESCALANTE Escalante moved closer to a planning and zoning master plan with a public hearing held June 16. Craig Skousen from the Five County Association of Governments in St. George gave a presentation on the proposed master plan for Escalante's planning and zoning. He showed a film explaining the planning and zoning process and presented each person present with a copy of the proposed plan. The plan proposed to permit mobile homes in Escalante as long as they are properly skirted and on a foundation. The master plan will have to be adopted as a resolution at a regular town council meeting, Skousen explained. The council will submit a letter from the town requesting assistance from John Williams, as executive director of the Five County AOG in developing a subdivision sub-division ordinance for the town. Skousen stated that after the master plan is adopted by resolution, five people should be appointed to sit on a planning commission. He said that after the planning commission is appointed, the Five County AOG will work with the commissoin on all of the different dif-ferent ordinances that will be needed. , Council members were asked to review the master plan carefully before the next regular meeting. |
