The roll-over of the Volkswagon club-cab pick-up claimed the life of a Solvang, Calif, woman. Fei'Fei Heald was killed on July 4 two miles south of Hatch. Her step-son was seriously injured. HATCH A July 4 one-car rollover claimed the life of a 29-year-old Solvang, Calif, women and left her step-son seriously injured near Hatch. Fei-Fei Heald was traveling north on U.S. Highway 89 when she left the road just south of the Mammoth Creek Bridge. She overcorrected, came back onto the highway and corrected again, causing her Volkswagon club-cab pick-up to overturn. She and her step-son Merrill Heald were tnrown through the windshield. Merrill Heald was later transferred by Life Flight to a hospital in Las Vegas. A July 6 accident which occured at 1:20 a.m. on the Panguitch Lake Road at the last curve before The Meadows totalled a car owned by Curtis Madsen, Panguitch. Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Otho Bulkley, said the Madsen vehicle went out of control and rolled over. Madsen was treated for minor injuries. A passenger, Tony Willis, Panguitch, received serious cuts and abrasions. Both he and a second passenger, Tina Jefferies, Can-nonville Can-nonville were transported to Garfield Gar-field Memorial Hospital by ambulance. am-bulance. Jefferies was later transferred to Life Flight at Panguitch Airport for treatment at a Salt Lake City hospital for more serious injuries. Also on July 4, an 11-year-old riding a mini-bike on Highway 14 at Mammoth Creek Road ran a stop sign and collided with a Honda Motorcycle driven by Alvin Bar-nhurst Bar-nhurst 53, Hatch. The youth did not have a drivers license, nor a registration card. He did not yield right-of-way and illegally crossed through a stop sign. He was taken to a Las Vegas hospital. Barnhurst, who suffered bruises, was treated at the Garfield Memorial Hospital and released. On July 6 at approximately 2:15 a.m., Panguitch police chief Martin Nay, Panguitch police officer Than Cooper and Garfield County Sheriff Larry Coon responded to an altercation alter-cation at Tod's Truck Stop on East Center Street in Panguitch. The three officers stopped a fight in progress involving five men from the northern portion of the state and four to six people from the area around Panguitch. During the altercation a shot was fired from a handgun which has been confiscated by the police. John Trout, owner of the truck stop said that over $360 damage was done during the incident. The in- cident is still under investigation. |
