Show Economic Development Training Session Scheduled Here July 15 Economic Development Training will begin Tuesday, July 15 at the I courthouse in Panguitch for area county and city officials and other j interested persons. The Utah Division of Business and Economic Development will begin the comprehensive economic development training program geared toward the needs of Utah's small communities with an all-day session in Panguitch at the invitation in-vitation of Panguitch City officials. . Meetings will begin at 10 a.m. for area elected officials and at 10:45 for five-county area legislators. A press session is set for 11:40 with a no-host luncheon scheduled for noon at Foy's Country Corner Cafe where special presentations are planned. Division Director David Grant u will discuss the state of economic f development in Utah and Fred Ball, executive director of the Salt Lake I area Chamber of Commerce, will comment on how big city developers perceive smaller communities and what adjustments must be made. Also on hand for the day-long sessions and for after-lunch workshops will be Howard Bird, director of the division's business development program; Jim Dreyfous, director of Utah Venture Fund I (venture capital to finance new undertakings); Bobbie Coray, director of Cache County development; Craig Bott, representing Arthur Young, Salt Lake City consulting firm; Ed Meyer, director of the division's rural development program; and i Jonnie Wilkinson, rural develop- ment excecutive. j "Utah's Partners With Industry I program is designed to help Utah communities to compete effectively in the highly competitive economic development field," said Ed Meyer. , "It is also designed to help prepare communities to meet minimum requirements of a potential in dustry." The program was developed by the state Rural Development Program headed by Meyer. The sessions and workshops will focus on community planning, information in-formation services, physical services ser-vices and human services. |
