Show FmHA Invests $2.6-Million In Garfield, Kane Counties Loans approved by the Farmers Home Administration office serving Garfield and Kane counties totaled $2,592,590.00 during fiscal year 1985, , according to K. W. Brinkerhoff, FmHA county supervisor. Fourteen rural housing loans were approved totaling $532,180.00. Some of these loans were made for repairs and additions to existing dwellings, but approximately 86 percent of the funds were used to finance new dwellings. In addition 1 home was sold from government inventory, and 3 houses already on the program were transferred to eligible applicants. Six farm ownership loans, totaling $210,200.00 were made, mainly for land purchase and development. Farm operating loans led the investments totaling $1,494,210.00 for farm operating expenses, purchase of livestock and farm i equipment. Two loans were made under the youth program. Under the soil and water loan program, two loans were made for sprinkler systems. Garfield and 1 Kane counties ranked No. 1 in the state in rural housing collections.
